I assume you mean the pack of rare elite Alliance outriders?

If you killed them they drop "A runed scroll" which starts a quest. The story is soething along the lines of someone in Darnassus is sending spys out into the barrens and the outriders were delivering a message back to them, you have to go and kill one of their officials to send a warning to stay out of horde territory.
