Put me down as another one who doesn't understand why people think there needs to be a "lore" reason for this. As another poster points out upthread, this isn't really a faction change, it's a character swap. From an RP perspective unless you *really want* to have - say - your human priest succumb to the plague and become a Forsaken you just stop playing Lolipwnzu the Tauren Shaman and start playing Lolipwnzu the Draenai shaman, a different character who happens to have the same name.It always strikes me as odd the blind-spots that some people have over "Lore reasons" for things. Does anybody ask the "lore reason" that Zeppelins and boats appear to be able to literally teleport across the Maelstrom? Or for that matter the "lore reason" that the bears in Northrend are so much more dangerous than the bears in the whole of the rest of Azeroth?

See, one thing I've always respected about blizz is their appropriate use of Lore. Lore is the ties that bind everything together. That gives us our story and goals, our zones and all the big things in the game. Now, short of a couple minor retcons that were inevitable being that Warcraft was never made with an MMO in mind, but instead as a random RTS where humans beat the crap out of orcs-Blizz has done a smashing job. While I see many people confusing new lore with ruining all lore, something which I disagree with personally, I think they have done a great job. But the best thing they've done? They don't ruin the game for lore. Or what "makes sense." It makes sense that a mage should be able to put a portal under your feet, pop you 12 stories in the air and then let you fall to your doom. According to warcraft 3 mages should have been able to pop all around the world by nothing more than willpower. My freaking dragon should not be afraid to come out of its spectral pocket because there is a level 2 kobold running behind me screaming "You no take candle" and for that matter there should be no way in the 9 hells that I can carry a tenth of what I do. This is another thing that could be fought with to create some thin illusion of lore over something that has nothing to do with lore at all, but thank god blizzard won't spend that many man hours playing pretend.I also note I am a RP'er and play on an RP realm. I just know that you shouldn't kill the game so that the story is awfully pretty.
