Going off on a slight tangent here, but here goes. The idea of races switching factions goes too far for me. Perhaps if it was one or two renegades, but the service would be too popular for that, and suddenly there would be droves of Orcs in Stormwind and Gnomes in Undercity. No thank you.The factions are at war. Switching all the way over is just too much for me (unless it leaves you permanently inter-faction PvP-flagged - You really think the Horde would just let a gnome stroll through Orgrimmar, regardless of where he professed his alleigances to lie? :P).However, I personally would love for Blizzard to implement a way for us to join neutral factions. The Argent Crusade, the Ebon Blade, etc. All these factions exist, and we can champion them, work for them, but never actually join them. What I would really love is the ability to comminucate cross-faction, even work with members of the opposite faction (to form a party, etc.), if you proclaimed yourself a neutral party. This is not beyond the realm of possibility when it comes to Lore. I don't expect my Orc to ever be able to stroll into Stormwind (nor would he want to) - He will always be a member of the Horde, but I wouldn't mind the opportunity to do an Eitrigg once in a while and work together for the greater good.I know it sounds out there, but think of a mixed-faction Ulduar or Naxx raid. There's nothing about those instances that makes them faction specific... In fact, both our factions are working to bring down Yogg-Saron / Kel'Thuzad. Why /shouldn't/ they try to do so together? Our leaders clearly aren't managing to co-operate, but all those neutral factions out there make it clear that many individuals are. It would be nice if our characters had the opportunity to be amongst them if they so wanted.I know, it's all hypothetical, and I never for a moment expect anything of the sort to happen... But to me it would be far, far preferable to letting races switch factions (not that I believe that would ever happen either :P).

There are some great arguments here for this change to occur on both the Lore side and the off-realm side. However, I have to say you've got a point here. Why not create opportunities to work together for neutral factions? Take, for instance, Death Knights. As a baby DK and on the Acherus after the "graduation" quest at Light's Hope, DKs cannot attack each other. Why not be allowed to group, then, as members of the Ebon Blade on that faction's quests? And why shouldn't cross-faction parties be able to group on the Cenarions' quests? These and other "neutral" factions are comprised of cross-faction NPCs that don't seem to be at each others' throats. It would stand to reason that, at least on those factions' quests, cross-faction groups should be able to work together. Perhaps via a "Questmaster" NPC that acts in a similar fashion as Battlemasters do for BGs, only they would put together cross-faction groups. Choices could be "Faction-only group" and "Cross-faction group" instead of "Battlegroup 1," "Battlegroup 2," etc.I'm sure something like this would prove a challenge to the code-monkeys, but I think it would make for interesting game-play.

You hit on something interesting there. For all of the various conflicts in the game that require both factions to put aside their differences, they don't do a heck of a lot to allow both sides to work together. They will let both sides storm into Naxx and kick KT's butt, but you will never see a cross-factional group of people going into an instance to down KT under the common banner of kicking scourge ass.It would be rather interesting to see an instanced raid or even 5 man where both sides could work cooperatively to defeat the common enemy. You would only be able to communicate with each other inside the instance (through some form of gnome/goblin engineering device I'm sure -- Blizz seems to like the concept).Don't get me wrong, I know this is the World of WARcraft, and the factions are indeed supposed to be at war with each other. I certainly don't want to raid with the other faction every day of the week, but it would be interesting for the sake of changing things up a little bit.Just my two cents...
