Did you finish the Fire Festival?

But alas, not for I and my tabard! After a good half day of solid grinding I trekked my Paladin throughout the dunes of Kalimdor and the lush forests of the Eastern Kingdom, extinguishing the flames of the bastard Horde and honoring those of the blessed Alliance. All was done well, so say we all.
It didn't take long though for me to realize that I didn't want to do this on more than my main. However I found myself exerting as much discipline as possible to finish the dailies every day on my dual boxing Recruit a Friend alts, pulling in about 50% of a level each day just from the daily quests alone. It was quite a nice XP bump.
All in all I accomplished with the Fire Festival I wanted to, and it wasn't too bad of a time. Although I can definitely wait a year to extinguish another flame.
Did you accomplish everything you wanted to with the Fire Festival? Are you satisfied?
| Yes, I did everything I wanted with the Fire Festival. | |

| No, there were still things left for me to do! |

As usual, I slacked off and failed to finish it on any of my characters :(
Hedwinkle Jul 6th 2009 12:21PM
Festival went live 4am....I was finished all the achievements by 10am
I was the complete opposite of slacker, but it was funny to see my guildies in Dalaran and for them to be "like wtf?!?"
Nazramu Jul 6th 2009 1:04PM
Yeah thought i would laze around but te gold was too much of an incentive for me. Plus lucky for me my fires glitch an I was able to get 1000 blossoms this year.

I had the same thing as the above poster. The fire glitch. I was able to do Desecrate and Honor the Fires multiple times, but only on one character. I stopped doing it after confirming that it was a glitch, but it was nice to get all that wonderful gold and blossoms.
As far as finishing the fire festival stuff. I finished it on four toons... God I love that tabard.

That really depends on what you mean. I did complete all the achievements, but another year went by without my scorchling.

^ THIS
I rounded up 4 people everyday, explaining we had 5 regular summons, and 1 heroic (which invariably ended up with half the group needing to run off and purchase the key - why is this mechanic still in the game lol?). Despite all of which I saw the pet drop exactly twice, and lost the rolls. I do have quite a few huge snowballs though >:l

Ditto.
Being this close to having 75 pets is annoying. Not having one of the coolest pets is more annoying. :(

71 pets and didnt get the scorchling AGAIN >_>

The drop rate on the Scorchling is so low, it's just not worth putting in the time. I have one of the largest pet collections on my server, but other than downing Ahune on 2 toons once each to get Flame Warden, I didn't set foot in Slave Pens this year.

I saw the scorchling drop four times. I was lucky enough to win it on the first roll. I kept dragging myself back every night to keep helping with summons for the other people in my guild who wanted it, and we eventually saw it drop three more times. Everyone who *really* wanted it did get it. We were lucky in that respect. Heroic mode definitely had the best drop rate (contained 3 of the 4 drops we had). I was also lucky in that I didn't have to worry about anyone needing keys/rep for heroic. We all already had that because of my desire while leveling to do all the heroics.
I think that the Ahune boss fight is one of the most annoying in the game. I felt completely useless during the adds phase as an arms warrior because by the time I'd get to one of the mobs, it would be dead. Then, charge didn't even work properly on Ahune. You'd only charge about halfway and then have to keep going up anyway.
I think they really need a better way to make this pet available. Though, if they just put it on certain mobs and made it a world drop during the festival, that would probably be a lot worse. Those mobs would constantly be camped and few people would get a shot at it anyway. I thought it would be cool to have a chance for you to get it every time you honored or desecrated a fire, though that would probably be difficult to implement.

57 kills of Alune and the pet did not drop once. I really wanted that pet, it would have made #103 of my collection.
Elmo Jul 6th 2009 1:28PM
I solo'd Ahune on heroic and normal for 5 days 'till the scorchling dropped.
was quite easy to do, just keep moving and use Maelstrom and puppies for heals.
Scunosi Jul 6th 2009 1:41PM
I only saw it drop once in a group with my guildies. I was just about to type how my pet collector friend and I were going to both Need it when he rolled Greed. -_-
Luckily he won the pet, but then I realized that even though that's his pet collector character, it's also an alt that's yet to hit 80. T-T
Never saw it drop again...

I finished all achievements and got my title and my SPirit of Summer, but, like most, I never got my Scorchling, Did it 5 times a day since it started with some good friends of mine that would pass it for me, it didn't drop once. Pets RNG hate me when it comes to instance mobs. CURSE YOU PHOENIX HATCHLING!
roland Jul 7th 2009 8:27AM
Ya, I finished all of the achievements on day one. Did the fires again when they reset them and then went hunting for the pet.
It dropped twice for me and I lost the roll every time.
Well, there's always next year :-)
Aceman67 Jul 6th 2009 9:06AM
I completed the Meta acheivment and got enough gold for my Flying Mount.
Alls well that ends well.
Nathan Jul 6th 2009 9:08AM
Did it all the first day then after they reset it did it all again. Ended up with a nice chunk of change.
Péke Jul 6th 2009 9:11AM
This assumes i started it. Holiday events dont really interest me.
snowleopard233 Jul 6th 2009 9:29AM
Likewise. I don’t have much of a desire to run around doing repetitive quests for vanity pets and s’mores. You can keep your purple dragon.
Rugus Jul 6th 2009 9:33AM
Holiday stuff? Vanity pets? Boring repetitive things?
Holiday or not, game mechanics, quests, rewards, objectives and so on... will be the same. You wont be playing any differently if you do not (or do) them.
