Worgen Garwal hotfixed, now untamable
Our tip lines have been buzzing recently with news about a tameable Worgen. If you haven't been paying attention, in short, Garwal (a quest NPC that starts as a wolf, but turns into a Worgen) could be tamed as a Worgen if you get your timing right, and then you'd have a very unusual pet following you around.
Note that I say "could be tamed," not "can": apparently Blizzard has hotfixed the NPC so that he can no longer be tamed, stating that they never intended players to have a humanoid pet. Players who have already tamed Garwal will find that they have no talents or abilities for him, nor can they feed or buff him rendering him effectively useless except as a vanity pet. I would expect him to be removed even as a vanity pet soon.

Ouch, gonna be some sad hunters out there. Not that they should be surprised about this.

I leveled in Howling Fjord, so no chance for me at all.
WTB more unique pets like Garwal.

I started my hunter in howling fjord yesterday (dinged 69 last night). I did all the pre-req's for the quest yesterday and planned on doing the 5-6 quest chain to get the worgen today :(
Yah, it sucks, but I half expected it to get hot-fixed today. I will spend my nights crying thinking of the possibilities that could have been :*(

wasted a bit of time trying to tame him last night, before the servers shut down, but it was next to impossible thanks to the 5 level alliance hunters who came and stood around taking turns trying to tame him... sucks to you jerks, now you cant even use him! :P

I was somewhat surprised, considering that hunters that tamed Spirit of Koosu and similar pets were allowed to keep them in their useful state, despite that they were never intended to be tamable.
At least those hunters that got in early enjoyed their Wolfos while they lasted.

I grabbed an heirloom gun and mail shoudlers and leveled my hunter alt from 69-71 overnight to grab this pet before the inevitable hotfix hammer hit. Eventually, when I finish levelling him I plan to switch to a spec other than beastmaster (so I can get by without pet talents) and use this worgen pet permanently.
Of course, now I'll also need a glyph of mend pet to keep him happy, since the big guy refuses to find happiness in food - poor anorexic worgen... plus he seems to be chronically depressed due to having his talents taken away, which I can understand, that would make me a sad panda too. Or worgen. Whatever.

Let the QQing begin!

I will say, it was pretty cool while it lasted. Knowing that it was probably going to end kinda made it that much better.

Yeah, I didn't get too attached to him... I figure there will be plenty of other fun things to tame at some point...
Though it was fun using Eyes of the Beast with him! R.I.P. Teenwolf...

I just hope that the complainers avoid blaming wow.com for the change.
It's funny...when someone at wow.com posts a "blog-ish" piece, it gets critisized for not being hard-hitting news. When they actually post some interesting late-breaking information about something like this, people cry that they've "spilled the beans" to the devs.

It was nice that they posted the news on friday afternoon. That probably gave the most players possible the most time possible to tame him, while most of the blizzard developers were off for the weekend.

Figured it would happen, still sucks... It would be REALLY nice of them to at least let us keep it as a vanity pet...
I tamed him last night, guess it was fun while it lasted.

I had already done the quest on my hunter while leveling so I wasn't able to go back and try this out. As soon as I heard about it, I was sure that Blizz would nix this one. I still think it's interesting though that someone thought about it and figured out how to do it. Pretty damn awesome "vanity" pet if you don't mind losing a stable slot.

In ulduar 25 last night we had a Hunter with him... he did great dps... we'll miss him. Oh well.
Rugus Jul 8th 2009 1:47AM
He did the same dps as any other wolf.
Mep Jul 7th 2009 5:08PM
Bummer... been waiting all day to go home and do this :(
Zayd Jul 7th 2009 5:08PM
I'm still hopeful of Tame Pet being usable on droods in pvp one day as a mind control type of spell :****)
Nick S Jul 7th 2009 5:31PM
IMO, if you can channel a full Tame Pet on an active Feral, you deserve to tame it.

F-U BLIZZ.....jerks

I can't believe the amount of seemingly five year old players that are now crying for slimes/hydras/ghost wolves to be taken away.
So many posts on the official forums that basically say nothing but "Wahhhh! I can't have MY special pet so no one else should have theirs!!"
Are people really that childish and tacky?
