TurpsterVision: Northrend Children's Week
We can't believe it either – Turpster has been let loose on WoW.com to bring you videos from in and around the World of Warcraft! You've heard him on the WoW Insider Show, and now see him on TurpsterVision right here on WoW.com.
First up a bit of housekeeping; thanks to all of you who took part in last week's contest -- over 500 of you! A winner has been chosen via the highly technical method of a /random in-game roll. Sorry to the others of you who didn't win this time, but who knows, maybe in the future we'll have another giveaway on TurpsterVision!
This week we take a trip on the PTR and experience the new Northrend Children's Week, doing the impossible and completing both sides of the event to show you what is on offer. Lesley Smith posted about the event before and we even put up a handy gallery if you would like to take a closer look at some of the quest text.
The quest I talked about in Sholazar Basin is Reclamation part of a chain started by the Avatar of Freya. We've since discovered that the Oracle's quest to go through the Waygate does not require this quest and in fact opens the Waygate for later use – but you should all totally do this quest if you haven't already, it's too much fun!
On the live realms we will only be able to complete this quest for one of the children each year and in my mind there is no question which orphan I will choose...
I can has aged yolk?
Before I get back to the PTR I'll have to show you something that made me smile while questing and confirmed Roo as the greatest orphan ever to set foot in WoW!

Check out more of Turpster's work, from his WoW parody songs to TV previously on Massively.com, not forgetting everyone's favorite podcast 'The WoW Insider Show' and of course, TurpsterVision right here on WoW.com!

Turp, do the quests provided rep gains?
Taladan Jul 8th 2009 1:21PM
No reps, at least at this moment.
I rolled a premade toon, so no rep at all. Completing the quests gave no rep (in my case, Oracles, 'cause I too the first one I saw.)
Mark Turpin Jul 8th 2009 1:26PM
As said above, no rep from the quests. I believe this is so if you are farming for the green drake but want a wolvar pet then you can without worry of messing things up. Though obviously everyone should go for Roo
Paux Jul 8th 2009 4:19PM
Drat I was hoping for a little help with oracles rep.

"The Frenzy Heart guy? A bit of a dick......... "
Classic. Nice job Turp.

I want to have you in my game layout as well. Just a little video window and a live stream Turpster. Oh, come on, please?
"And then she just said: "No. I'd be too big". " - Still laughing over that.

Fantastic. XD

Hilarious preview but the whole Northrend children's week idea feels kinda pointless. It great to get a little Gorloc/Wolvar pet and all but it doesn't seem like there's much point to it other then Blizzard wanting us to have another vanity pet. And it looks like the majority of the quests are all in Dragonblight, granted Northrend isn't THAT big but you'd think they'd make you see more of the actual sights of Northrend with your orphan then just taking him/her/it to Dragonblight and then calling it a day.
It's all pretty weak.

Actually, that was what I hated the most about the Outland quests. They took you all over hellfire and creation just to show your little orphan what? a big door? A huge hole in the ground? The incredibly out of the way Exodar (that by the way, doesn't have a flight point that actually works for reasons unknown)? The only cool thing was talking to Zaladormu (thank you wowhead) in the caverns of time. But of course, the 11 min long flight from Auberdine was just hell. I guess I could've just made a sandwich. Ok, ok. The other cool thing about it was hearing about the awesome lore behind that great hole in the ground, the big door and of course the Naaru.

Whats wrong with your hair?

So, when is Northrend Children's Week? Is it going to coincide with the release of 3.2? What about after that?
snarkygoldfish Jul 8th 2009 2:12PM
A little disappointed the two "kids" are just shrunken down adult models -- the human/orc and spacegoat/BElf kids all have unique models.
Was hoping for a cute floppy little baby gorloc given the baby murloc treatment.

The biggest question I have is, will these orphans count towards the pvp children's week acievements? I had the worst time with that, and to be given a second chance to cap a flag in eots (the only one I have left) would be fabulous!
Mark Turpin Jul 8th 2009 2:55PM
I believe so, I managed to get the 'Home Alone' achievement on the PTR so I'd guess that you'll be able to go for the other achievements during the Northrend Childrens Week.

Awesome sauce.
Thank you
