European first of Heroic: Alone in the Darkness

Paragon is no slouch of a raid, but this still comes as something of a surprise. Prior to this kill, GuildOx listed Paragon as the 10th top raid in the world. Top ten material, but when it comes to firsts, rarely do you even look that low on the charts. It's pretty much the top two or three that dominate across the board. All eyes were on Ensidia and Method, maybe Premonition, Inner Sanctum or Wraith if you were generous, but probably not Paragon. We can probably consider them the underdogs when it comes to this kill.
Congratulations, Paragon. If you guys get banned for 'sploits and make me look silly twice in as many weeks, I will be most upset!
Update: I've also just been sent a screenshot that proves it, if the Armory wasn't enough.

Dang, not for US, haha.
Still, great job guys.
impurezero Jul 10th 2009 4:20PM
Congratulations...for now. :)

Wait...Exodus...Paragon? What's with all the European guilds with Final Fantasy boss names getting this achievement?
Alex Ziebart Jul 10th 2009 4:29PM
www.dictionary.com ;)
Craig R Jul 10th 2009 4:29PM
you know, because final fantasy made these words up.
impurezero Jul 10th 2009 5:12PM
Of course they didn't make them up. I just thought it was an interesting coincidence. There are probably more words in the dictionary that are not FF boss names than those that are, so probability speaking...
...fine, I'll just shut up now. :)

Epic Raiding Skill!

Did Ensidia get screwed out of the Euro first because they had already killed Yogg this week and thus unable to copy Stars strategy?
Oh, that would be sweet, sweet justice.
Kemikalkadet Jul 10th 2009 4:29PM
They never actively pursued yogg+0. They said that the race was first to kill algalon and anything after that wasn't important. Obviously only not important to them as everyone else sees the yogg+0 kills as bonafide world first progression kills.
Robert M Jul 10th 2009 4:42PM
LMAO, even better, it reminds me of rule #36 from The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene
Disdain Things you cannot have: Ignoring them is the best Revenge

@Kemikalkadet
Of course they say they don't care, they called it impossible and in the past two weeks two guilds have downed it (not including Exodus).
I don't know about others, but downing a boss under 'impossible' conditions seems far more impressive than downing Algalon to me.
Grats to paragon.
Kemikalkadet Jul 10th 2009 5:13PM
Oh yeah absolutely. I don't understand at all why they decided yogg+0 didnt count as part of the progression race. It looks to be the hardest fight in Ulduar so it makes no sense for them to discount it.
Arkey Jul 10th 2009 4:22PM
I wonder if they used Stars' strat
Alex Ziebart Jul 10th 2009 4:25PM
According to the MMO-Champion thread I was just linked to, they did not use Stars' strat: http://www.mmo-champion.com/index.php?topic=74197.0
No video yet though, so who knows what strat they used. It DOES look like their Warlocks are using Drain Soul creatively like the Stars locks, though. ;)
Lemons Jul 10th 2009 4:28PM
No...why would they do that? Why try something you know already works when you could go off on a TANGENT and try something totally different? I heard they stacked Shamans and Hunters had one Warrior specced 22/15/34 for a VERY specific reason.
Craig R Jul 10th 2009 4:40PM
No fair, editor privileges pwn me.
WTB more accurate timestamps.
regisfrost Jul 10th 2009 4:41PM
Hey, I was playing on LB when that happened. Didn't actually think too much about it since it said "Realm First: Death's Demise". Should have read the text a bit more ;)
Dightkuz Jul 10th 2009 4:45PM
Yeah gz to them.
I suppose the top guilds have been focusing on PTR testing?
outdps Jul 10th 2009 4:56PM
Most importantly, was that a BM hunter's devilsaur I saw in the screenshot? What do they know that I don't?
uncleernie50 Jul 10th 2009 5:08PM
Well looking in Shaylee's armory entry was educational. But with the icon for the achivement in the same frame as the devilsaur I think that officially means that YES they did this tough ass achievment as a BM hunter.. Who knew?!
