Patch 3.2: Horde Tier 9 plate armor set gallery
After doing some digging in Patch 3.2's latest PTR files, I've assembled a gallery of the new Horde Tier 9 plate sets. The shoulders are slightly unfinished, or at least looked like they were in WoW Model Viewer. The gallery includes Death Knight, Warrior, and Paladin themed sets. In a move that bodes well for Alliance mail armor, the Horde Paladin sets are blood elf themed, so we'll see how that goes for our Draenei Shaman friends (read: me).
I'm not too upset about the looks, myself. They look very Horde, even if the helm screams "Onslaught", and the colors are quite different for each class -- even more so than on the Alliance plate pieces.
Have a gander and enjoy! I'll dig through every new PTR patch that comes out looking for the Horde cloth and Alliance mail and leather sets, so keep your eyes open for updates here.
Patch 3.2 will bring about a new 5, 10, and 25 man instance to WoW, and usher in a new 40-man battleground called the Isle of Conquest. WoW.com will have you covered every step of the way, from extensive PTR coverage through the official live release. The helms look very, very cool.
devilsei Jul 10th 2009 7:57PM
Yeah, at least the Horde-armor looks better and is more easily differentiated from the alliance plate and classes.

Looks like warlock T3 mixed with onslaught/sunwell stuff. Poor palas tho, the coloring is bit awful there.
Oh well..atleast its..different color than alliance dk/warrior/pala but If I were pala I would take alliance as paladin not green/yellow/red stuff.
Theres certain colors wich reminds people of classes and I dont really see them in these sets.
ITQ.Caleb Jul 10th 2009 8:08PM
Well, the coloring works for the paladins for only Blood Elves could only be that on the horde side. Seeing how Blood Elves came out for TBC, what color scheme was SMC? What color scheme were the crystals seen around any demon of the burning crusade? They really wanted to stick with stuff that resembles Blood Elves, from the past colors they were likely around and the color of their city to represent in the tournament.
Justin Jul 10th 2009 8:10PM
Agreed. Not that I wear plate or play Horde for that matter, but the pally stuff doesn't really seem to fit with pallies.

You may be forgetting, seeing that the Alliance have tons of paladin races, that only Blood Elves can be paladins on Horde-side. Having the armor set match their racial colors is a fantastic idea. If you see a BE in plate, you'll know exactly what they are.
tjduck Jul 10th 2009 8:48PM
Except, the Blood Knights already have a color scheme distinct from the regular Blood Elf colors.
devilsei Jul 10th 2009 8:51PM
Remember, Horde Paladins aren't called "Paladins". They were referred to as "Blood Knights". Ever do the charger quest for them? The Tabard is red and gold, and of course, obviously green eyes.
This is the kind of armor I'd think any Blood Knight would be proud to wear, you can stick to your alliance blue&gold goody-two-shoes armor.
tjduck Jul 10th 2009 9:18PM
Devilsei, I hope you are not addressing me. Because the tabard is red and black: http://www.wowwiki.com/Blood_Knights. And apart from their eyes, there is no green in the color scheme. The Blood Knight color scheme is black, red, and gold and not orange, yellow, and green.

Seriously, the be pally scheme reminds me of vomit and bad child memories (like daycares and teletubbies). I get a headache just looking at it.
Zrob Jul 11th 2009 1:40AM
Sorry Devilsei, we're called Paladins as well as "Blood Knights" Kind of like how some Alliance Paladins are also "Knights of the Silver Covenant"
Our trainers call us Paladins, the NPCs call us Paladins and it says "Paladin" on the select screen. Now, it's pretty obvious you've never played a Horde Paladin for any length of time, so please stop posting about them.
devilsei Jul 12th 2009 4:25AM
Oh, I'm sorry Zrob, I guess the Belfadin I've played since TBC came out isn't mine huh? It just magically appeared in my character screen? I also guess all the raids I've done were dreams.
Blood Elf paladins ARE Blood Knights. The only reason the trainers were labeled paladin, and the class was labeled paladin, is because people would ultimately whine about us getting a "cooler sounding" name. Anyone that has even played a bit of WoW knows Blizzard will spit on lore for Gameplay-sake, and will retcon whatever they can. Also note I said "were referred to" which means past-tense. The blood knights only recently became true paladins. Oh I'm sorry, I guess I shouldn't know about Lady Liadrin arriving in Shattrah, speaking to the Na'ruu, and then being told that it was all known in advance, which lead to them becoming true paladins, as they no longer needed to feed off M'uru like parasites, because OBVIOUSLY, I never played a paladin.
As for TJ, I wasn't referring to you, and I haven't worn my bloodknight tabard since I got the "Trophy of the Illidari" tabard. Wait, guess I never got that either though cause I don't have a paladin, bummer...
And maybe I should be a bit more specific, since some don't quite grasp it. The Paladin gear is based on the bloodelf design in general, I figured some people would be able to understand that paladin="only BE" so the Red, green, yellow/gold design fits well with them. And honestly, I'm happy there isn't much, if at all any bit of black in this design. WotLK was full of "black" pieces of armor that I got sick of it.

I totally agree with you, the colouring to pally set is completely awful. I won't be rolling on that stuff no matter how overpowered it might be. No way am I going to look like a clown wearing that shit.
Everyone supporting the coulour scheme: have you ever looked at the Blood Knight tabard? I have, and it's black & red. If they wanted horde pallies to look like Blood Knights, they should have used red and black.
Zaniac Jul 13th 2009 5:57AM
Poor palas indeed.
Gold - check.
Red - check.
Poision green - ...WTF?
Sure, green will match the blood elf eyes, but really! What does it have to do with paladins?
Rogues or warlocks, sure. But Paladins?! Even if they are blood knights and not paladins, what the heck?
Those spikes should be ivory white, golden, or ebony black to look cool and fitting. But poison green? Nuh-uh.
Faze Jul 10th 2009 8:17PM
Nice work Sacco but gota say that luminous green and yellow is dam ugly. I play a belf pally myself and im not looking foward to wearing those!
Kemikalkadet Jul 11th 2009 7:41AM
I like the brightly coloured one. Reminds me of the warriors Conqueror set from AQ40.
Vicarious Jul 10th 2009 8:25PM
So far T9 plate shoulders and helm look nice for the Horde side. Though what I do love about the 3 sets if their color for each class. When I hear Warrior I picture them in old school armor and colors like Bronze, Silver etc. So the color fits nice for the Warrior tier.
Next is Paladins, Horde side only Belfs can be Paladins and havind their colors like red, gold on there armor fits them quite well. Lastly Death Knights like their name has it they need a feel of death and darkness. The dark color fits with them. Hopefully the rest of the tier fits with the 3 classes.
weirdracin Jul 10th 2009 8:30PM
lol, take the spikes off and raise the lower face part up and Boom, you are a Cylon from the original Battlestar Galactica . lol
epsilon343 Jul 10th 2009 9:04PM
THAT'S what they kept reminding me of. I was sitting here looking at them thinking to myself "There's something really familiar about all of this..."
Crash Jul 10th 2009 8:45PM
Can i has pally Power Rangers set again?
