How's it defeat the purpose? You HAVE to get the 310% mount to get the speed boost. You aren't forcing the druid to do it, its anyone's choice to go after a 310 instead of a 280.
What it DOES do is let the druid use his normal form if he favors it more than the actual mounts. So stop whining about an aesthetic change.

If they let druids have a 310% on their flight form after they get a 310, why not let everyone have 310% on all their mounts after they get a 310? It kind of defeats the purpose of having to use that specific mount, and druids can cast it instant, making them escape even quicker from PvP problems

Nearly every Druid I know (including me) uses Swift Flight Form as their one and only flying mount. In fact, I had no intention of getting the Violet Proto Drake until this change was announced.

I'll have to wait a year now, and I'll never ever fly it, but now I actually have a reason to go for it.

I don't see why people try to argue that if druids get 310 flight if they own a 310 mount all other toons should get to use a 310 on all mounts.

If one followed this reasoning, one could argue that all slow mounts or slow fliers should be boosted to 280 once you have a 280 mount... and that doesn't work. You have to choose speed vs. aesthetics.

However, with that rejection in mind, one could legitimately complain of course that this is effectively making the druid's 310 mount insta cast when they should have to mount it like everyone else of course... the tradeoff being cast time vs. flight speed.

Well it makes me wish I hadn't blown off fire festival on my druid alt, but I guess starting next holiday I'll have to start working on achievements
