Patch 3.2: Trial of the Crusader HD videos
Fresh from our first run of Patch 3.2's new 5-man dungeon, the Trial of the Crusader, come these videos of our exploits inside Tirion's Big Top. Sneep of <Goon Squad> was kind enough to Fraps each encounter (in HD, no less!) as we progressed through the instance. The videos show the Champion encounters -- both mounted and on foot -- as well as the Argent Crusade representative fight (we had Argent Confessor Paletress this time) and the final battle against the Black Knight. Our group makeup was:
- Talid, Resto Druid
- Sneep, Elemental Shaman
- Arnesca, Prot Paladin (Alex Ziebart)
- Venda, Survival Hunter
- Mosta, Elemental Shaman (Me)
The mounted battle against the Champions is shown above, and the rest of the videos are after the jump. Be sure to watch in HD by clicking the "HD" button on the Youtube UI!
EDIT: There was some offensive chat in the first video I posted, and it's been removed. Apologies to anyone who was offended by the remarks; they weren't in any way intended as serious.

I was about to ask what Bar AddOn that is in the first video . . . then I realized that it's the standard Blizzard Vehicle Bar. It's been so long since I've used the Blizzard UI that I don't even recognize it anymore

In the joust battle, do you get a set amount of health points like when doing the dailies? In other words, could a fresh 80 farm the first boss with their quest greens?
Zalvi Jul 11th 2009 4:39PM
vehicles health scale with your iLvl , so lest say you go in with all greens, your health and damage it going to be lower than a player with iLvl 213 geear

Ya know, I realize that a lot of people don't like jousting or mounted combat at all . . . but that looks like a lot of fun to me

I know I don't. I admit I've barely read much about the new instance/raid coming in 3.2, but I don't really enjoy the jousting idea at all.

I have been forcing myself to try the argent tournament stuff and the more of the mounted stuff I am doing my interest is really waning. In doing the dailies I dreaded doing the last mounted target quest and opted to run my alt around storm peaks instead.
I like a lot of the dailies, though this argent tournament stuff is lame.

I must be one of the few who really enjoys the jousting. I think it'll be fun to have it in an instance, something different to do.
Gordal Jul 11th 2009 5:55PM
Hey, I've always found the jousting pretty fun too. Especially when forming a party for Battle Before The Citadel and smacking down a Commander in short order (Used to solo them. Not pretty.).
Should we form a support group?

No, I love it too. It amuses me to drink deeply of the whiner tears hahaha

"I told you not to die, you fucking mongoloid!"
wat.

I like jousting. The AT jousting dailys are fun for me, but this is going to get old fast =/. Icecrown better be awesome to make up for this.

Why do wow.com keep putting trial of the crusader?
Trial of the champion if the 5 man, trial of the crusader is the raid :S

I was wondering the same thing...

Fights look pretty basic. Nothing really too difficult.
It's probably because I play an Elemental Shaman, but Sneep was downright terrible. More than half his Lava Bursts were cast without having Flame Shock on his target, and therefore didn't crit. There goes most of your DPS. Also, for having a premade with full T8.5, his spells weren't hitting for much. I have absolutely no Ulduar gear and I can crit Lightning Bolts for upwards of 10k and Lava Bursts upwards of 12k without raid buffs. His Lava Bursts couldn't pass 11k. Quit giving us a bad name...
Oznak Jul 11th 2009 5:41PM
I noticed that as well, and was wincing every time i saw a lava burst hit without critting. And yes, I do play an ele shaman.
On topic, has blizz made any indication that the "memory" enemies will have their signature abilities when 3.2 is actually released?
Sargenus Jul 12th 2009 11:35AM
Well. If I noticed right Mr. Lucifron there was casting all his old spells. But I'd love to see a C'thun/Eye and see all the PuGs go "OMGWTFKILLEDME" when they stand to close together. Sometimes, that would be when being an old timer helps.
Radiophonic Jul 11th 2009 4:58PM
They just don't listen when players say "Please, no more vehicle combat" lol
Jousting isn't so bad though. Thanks for posting the vids :)
soatari Jul 11th 2009 5:13PM
It's because there aren't enough people posting their displeasure on the official forums, which is where official feedback goes.
It's all well and good to post it on WoW.com or the other blogs, but Blizzard will never see that, at least not officially.
I think more people need to be expressing their opinions on unwanted mechanics.
Yomamma Jul 11th 2009 5:43PM
I'm not a fan of the vehicle encounters. And jousting....I tried it..it's not very difficult, but IMO, it's a little boring. I guess you can't really blame bilzzard for trying something different. I'm just surprised they got that much positive feedback from the argent tournament to create more of it.

These comments are full of liberals. I don't like that.
