Premonition grabs US-First Alone in the Darkness
Yogg-Saron's woes continue, as the Guild Premonition of the US Sen'jin server, Alliance side, becomes the first US guild and the third guild in the world to get the Alone in the Darkness Achievement, thereby also earning the Death's Demise title. Alone in the Darkness requires you to defeat Yogg Saron without the help of any Keepers, thereby eschewing the requisite buffs they give. They're hot on the heels of Paragon, which got the EU first kill, and Stars, which got the world first (and by extension, Taiwan first) kill.
This is definitely a difficult achievement, and, some argue, possibly even harder than killing Algalon himself. Congratulations, Premonition!

Seeing as how its a start of a new week (I realize its Monday now), I see this is as a boost of morale for the US realms in that there are guilds here [and in Canada] that can could pull off the impossible.
All we need now is a World First from the Latin and Oceanic (unless they fall under EU server category) and we can have the very first and official Worldwide achievement that a guild from each server region obtained a World Realm first, or as I would call it:
" ACHIEVEMENT: Global First - "Around the World" = 5 World Firsts obtained from all 5 server realms."
And then fanfare, fireworks, flying murlocs happen all over Azeroth and Outland, with a special surprise in the form of the Maelstrom miraculously calming to reveal Malfurion Stormrage bowing and saying some congratulatory message.
Of course, it would be odd that Blizz hasn't thought of it, unless they have.. However, if it is possible, what could we expect?
And I only threw out that "Global First Achievement" because there's been an EU, an Asian, and now a *US guild with the World Firsts. If this happens, it would be awesome.
* I know Exodus would count but that situation arose and Blizz revoked their credit legitimately hence the asterisk.
I would like to hear the WoW.com writers/editors input on this "Global First Achievement" theory.

Not with this lag.
Dukotar Jul 13th 2009 7:16AM
Oceanic (& Latin Servers, i think) are just US realms with different time zones. Also, hey Zar, if you're Zarfay in my guild Zar.

There's no arguing that it's harder than Algalon.....way, way harder.

There's no disagreement with that at all... but it does raise a thought..
Can AitD be done in the same run as the 60 min Alagon kill?
I would say no, only because of all the events that would have to make it go their way [guild wise] in whoever would attempt this kind of challenge, whether its Stars, Ensidia, Premonition, or Paragon. However, that's not to say its impossible.
Would I like to see it happen? Yes, regardless of whoever succeeds. If Yogg gets hotfixed, then it would be a slight advantage but I, personally, would like to see 1, if not all of them go for this unusual "what if...?" test.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there a few more World Firsts that haven't been completed, both 10 and 25 Hard Ulduar, right?

"

Nope. All hard modes have now been downed by at least one guild. Ulduar is officially cleared. The only things left are the random achievements that don't provide anything beyond achievement points, but they've probably all been completed by at least one guild somewhere.

@Eamara: I was just about to suggest that this wasn't the case, but upon further research, you're right. Every achievement has been earned by at least one guild, including what is arguably the hardest aside from AitD, "He Feeds on Your Tears" (Kill Algalon without anyone dying), which Method did two weeks ago and is the only guild to have done so. The other difficult achievement is "He's Not Getting Any Older" (Kill Yogg in 7 minutes), which only Premonition here has done.
There are no achievements left to get world first on in this tier of raiding.
Oh well, we can always hope for next tier, with achievements like this!

good to see the US tack one up there.

Well according to wowprogress, US guilds are stills way behind EU guilds.
However it's good to see an US first kill, congrats to Premonition.

I believe that Method was the first guild in the world to do this achievement.
