And how are the Draenei not 'pure'??
On another note, Tauren kill Dwarves who are only excavating THEIR old ruins, and also fighting the Centuar who were likewise enemies, way to kill off your potential allies, even after they sent an ambassador to Mulgore for peace!

I started alliance because that's where all my friends played, and that's where I've stayed. I have a few alts scattered around, a couple of them horde side, but I always come back to my main server because I like playing with people I know.
I quite like the look of the Horde though, and it would be neat to actually get past level 30 on one!

Horde all the way, forever.
I started Horde when I started WoW because my friends were playing it and the Alliance just seemd too... boring. I didn't really know a lot about the lore back then. But as time passed I really delved into the lore and I just love Horde by now, I just couldn't switch to Alliance for good.
Alliance is ok, they also got some great lore and cool characters, but I just like Horde more.
Thrall Hall! Blood and Thunder!

I started playing WoW Alliance side, simply because friends played it, got a human mage to level 8 and was bored out of my mind with the standard fantasy setting.
Made an Orc Hunter during my friends downtime, and totally fell in love with Horde side of the game. I loved that durotar looked nothing like your standard fantasy game, and since then created a second Main, my Tauren druid, and several alts (Undead Warlock, Troll Shaman).

I think this opens up an interesting discussion. I personally Identify with my characters as though they were an extension of myself...so as a male I would feel like I were in drag if I played a female. There are many players who don't see it that way though. It's more like controlling another person or an imaginary friend I suppose.

Played A dwarf for the trial, but I wasn't too keen on it.
Favoured races are Tauren and undead, just for the really good lore behind the two, and I really like the character models.
Plus, you get to kill gnomes.

My friend was already on the Horde when I started so I didn't really have a choice about it. But I have always wanted a Draeni Paladin because the Paladin has been my favorite class since Warcraft III and the Draeni just look soo cool and mystical. But BC had me covered a bit because if not for Blood Elf Pallys then I would have had to abandon my friend. I still want a Draeni Pally but I just can't go from 1-80 again yet

Horde all the way. I find Horde lore so much more interesting, and it seems to me, in the politics of it all, that the Alliance are striving for a democracy whereas the Horde are out for survival.
First character was a Blood Elf Mage. I flutter between him, an Undead Priest and a Tauren Druid.
And ... Dwarves / Gnomes / Humans are, in my honest opinion, a bit of an anti-climax. I couldn't play an RPG with the opportunity to play all these different races, which are so far from reality, to roll a Human. I'm a human anyway. It's boring.
Sir7 Jul 13th 2009 8:38AM
I completely agree. When I tried playing a human in WoW I had this strange urge to just level cooking all the time! 90% of their starting zone is farmland for the love of--
baysaz Jul 13th 2009 8:32AM
Um, why would you have to be sexually attracted to your character? :P
Flint Jul 13th 2009 8:33AM
My friend who got me into the game had just started an Alliance character so I joined the same faction naturally. Later on that turned out to be the right choice for me anyway, as levelling Horde characters just showed me that Horde zones, quests and certain races just weren't really to my tastes.
Sir7 Jul 13th 2009 8:34AM
FOR THE HORDE! Seriously, how much more Warcraft-y can you get than an Orc Shaman? Every time I hear one flip out and cast Bloodlust my excitement and nerd rage increase by 30%. I was a Draenei Shaman just so I could play w/ friends, but the battle drums pounding in my head wouldn't stop, so I HAD to roll Horde! ...The battle drums have only gotten louder since then, but that's the way we like it!

I've played alliance and horde on several servers. There's significantly less griefing and more maturity on the horde side.
Notice, I didn't say there was less immaturity = )
That being said, I prefer alliance for PVE and Horde for PVP.
info Jul 13th 2009 8:39AM
I prefer Horde and almost all of my characters are Blood Elf females. I'm a male myself but I don't see it as a "drag" or anything like that. I just prefer to look at them from behind more than any other race. Why do Night Elf females look like they're wearing diapers, btw!?!
baysaz Jul 13th 2009 8:39AM
Yes! I agree. I'm always hoping for that. I wonder if it's possible. Wished they would revamp some animations on female troll. This gal has some god awful way of walkin mon. And the feet are too big. And well, more pretty faces please? And the human female needs some lipo on the hips. And a walking change too.
Osaka Jul 13th 2009 8:43AM
I think the female orcs need a wholes mess of work. There is one troll female face and hair I like, but the rest of them are kind of meh. Just cuz she's got tusks or green skin doesn't mean she can't be cute!
Oteo Jul 13th 2009 1:38PM
I don't mind the other troll faces so much. I regret choosing the "pretty" one for my troll priestess, but the other ones just looks so damn angry, and my troll is just not angry! She's laid back... and the pretty face is the only one with an expression that's not glowering.

I started out Alliance since that's what our friends were playing on the server where we started. After about six months my husband got bored with his rogue and rolled a Tauren shaman, and I rolled an undead rogue alt to still play with him some, and our friends weren't really playing much at that point. Husband got into a guild, got me invited, guild subsequently merged with what is at this point one of the oldest and most stable guilds on the server.
Two months later, the Bronzebeard > Eitrigg server transfers opened up, and one of the largest Horde guilds transferred en masse. The Alliance PVP queues went to hell (yes, that long ago), and I rolled a Tauren hunter to replace my Nelf as my main. Three months later I was raiding and was shortly made an officer, and I haven't even contemplated switching since.
(Our friends subsequently all followed us to the Horde.)

You landlubbers are tougher than i thought. I'll have to improvise!

I did not play any WC games prior to WoW. I did not know anyone who played WoW prior to playing WoW. But before buying the game I decided to research the story and what the game involved.
I found that from an outsiders perspective the Horde were the good guys and the Alliance attempt to be good but seem to come off as bigots. Also, people who decided to play Ally because they are the prettier faction should not argue which is better because they come off as ignorant, much in the same way people who play Horde because LOLBADGUYS should not argue which is "better".
I respect numerous Alliance figures such as; Malfurion Stormrage, Jaina Proudmoore, Tirion Fordring, Brann Bronzebeard and the Prophet Velen. But characters such as Varian Wrynn and Daelin Proudmoore annoy me to no end. (The same can be said for Garrosh Hellscream.)
I have tried to play Alliance before to get a better understanding, but found I could not level past around 25-30ish due to the immature players, I'm sorry for the generalisation but the spam in the public channels just remind me of the barrens except it's in trade.
If you play Alliance for friends or because the lore does not interest you, you just played the more attractive race for PVP or end game raiding then I can respect that. If you play Alliance for lore purposes, you are deluded :)
