WoW Moviewatch: B Mashina
B Mashina by Free Dwarf Studios is a little odd compared to our usual movies. It's a music video, featuring the work of gothic industrial band Laibach. (No doubt someone will disagree about Laibach's genre, but I'm just trying to summarize here, not write a music theory thesis.)
The author says that he had to struggle with the video, because he was constrained by the 100MB limitation. I'm not quite sure why Free Dwarf had that limitation, but the video seems to suffer a little from it.
Overall, I actually really liked the video as a sort of moody, experiential piece. While I'm not sure I could stay glued to my monitor to watch it over and over, B Mashina seems like it could set the mood for a trendy dance club somewhere. I felt like the video had a point, even if I couldn't tell you exactly what that point was.

Is it ironic i found this scarier than the Stratholme video?

"the video seems to suffer a little from it"
a little?
I really liked the part where the blurs were moving around, and then other blurs moved differently.
Coulda been cooler if I'd been able to see it, though the white marching orc stormtrooper things and the flag with the whatever it was came out clear enough.

Actually lol'd at the blur commentary.

I agree...the blurs were awesome when they were burred together with the other blurs
That being said however, I am now DL'ing some Laibach to check out more of their music.
Parts of the video reminded me of Gnomechewer's Standing in the way of connection:

This is one of my all time fav WOW music videos

Laibach has some awesome music. Tanz Mit Laibach is probably their most 'famous' song, and it's got an awesome beat.
Also check out their video for the song Slovania, it's a really unique song with some definite political undertones.

i would say that laibach's most famous stuff is either "opus dei" or their covers of "sympathy for the devil," myself. how interesting they are still around – talk about kicking it old school!

Ah, too bad about the quality. It does seem like a good video, but I could hardly stand to watch it due to the fuzziness. Shame the creator didn't upload a high-def version.

100 MB a limiter för a 3-minute video? I've seen 10-minute videos on YouTube with better quality than this.
Re-Encode, Re-upload. The movie deserves it. Even encoding in WMV would give you better than this.

When you're dealing with size limitations on your videos, I hear it helps when you don't make the first 30 seconds into your logo and the movie title. Zzz.
Needs more blurring. Maybe a bit more 'scratched movie' effect from the cheap video editor too.
Also more blurring.

This would have been really good in high def and with botanical magic.

i have a fever..and the only cure is more blurr

Bravo, you win the internet.

Couldn't stand more than 30 seconds due to the massive pixelization. Re-release with better quality and maybe I'll watch it.

Love the Laibach soundtrack and how the vid comes together with it. Cool concept :)

Great song, great video, but I feel I must pay tribute to the original authors of the song, Siddharta. A rock band from the same country as Laibach (Slovenia), check it out on youtube or somewhere, might sound better if you're not fan of hard music styles (Siddharta-B Mashina).
Laibach made a great remix of it though.

I didn't watch because I couldn't make out what was going on. I love Laibach (and have for nearly 20 years) so I just listened to the soundstrack.
Hopefully this is the start of a new trend of using industrial/neofolk instead of the usual trance or metal soundtracks. Can someone use a Whitehouse track next please?
