Around Azeroth: Dream big
"I finally got my Red Proto-Drake and took a tour all over Northrend showing its ruby-colored hide off," writes Drager of <Synod> on Lightning's Blade. "Flying through Borean Tundra I came across this pathetic little Gorloc. At the time of my arrival he was jumping around, trying to catch a bee. I'm sure he envied its ability to fly and so easily stay out of his reach. I can only imagine the extreme shock and awe that hit him when he saw me hovering above in all my rubicund glory. You can see the look of astonishment on his face." Thirty-six points for the use of 'rubicund' on a triple word score, Drager.
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, gold seller ads with dead gnomes, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

Muahaha commenting on this before its out :D Talks his drake up though, doesn't he. Least the gorloc has arms...
Klop Jul 14th 2009 10:32AM
Proto-drakes do have arms. Albeit vestigial and t-rex like.
Drow Jul 14th 2009 11:16AM
Well I enjoy the shot, but I see it more as the little guy wants to grow up to be like the big dragon, rather then the submitters story of showing off a Heroic acheivment drake lol. Why is he not on his Rusted or Iron Bound?
Drager Jul 14th 2009 3:03PM
Hell yeah I talk it up! Excited to finally get it :)
Drager Jul 14th 2009 4:09PM
Lol Drow, believe me I'm working on the Rusted one. In the meantime, I would love to see a picture of yours to give me something to strive for. Or maybe you'd like to even just show YOUR red proto drake.

Do people really still send you screenshots of their battleground scoreboards, gold seller ads with dead gnomes, and the ninja turtles in Dalaran? Or is that just a general disclaimer that you keep using?
Elizabeth Wachowski Jul 14th 2009 1:27PM
Douglas, while I haven't gotten a ninja turtles in a while, we do occasionally get battleground scoreboards. And during the past two weeks we get several submissions of the dead-gnome-gold-seller exploits a day. Seriously.
Other things we see a lot of: aerial shots of Dalaran, players transformed into Vrykul riding tiny mounts, players with the bug where they stand on top of mounts, and various animals stuck in trees. Also, the AA spam mail box would like to give me codeine, a college degree, a GOOD BUSINESS PROPOSAL, and something called a 'porn tubes'.

I have been 1 achievment away from the red-proto drake for months now. For some reason I just don't even attempt it...
its the occulus one...."Make it Count"...beat it in 20mins or so.
What's the best way to do this? I figure it should be easy given everyones sick gear but getting the drake thing down with 5 guys who know the mechanics is the tough part. any tips

Just don't loot, and don't have anyone die. Also, you have to be very careful to pull as few adds while flying around between fights as possible. Probably the best comp for making sure you get the last kill and in a good amount of time would be 1 red, 2 green, and 2 amber. The red tanks of course, the greens heal and the ambers channel till max stacks then hit lance. The ambers also need to take turns time stopping. They should do it when the boss emotes. The red should take care of the whelps with his chain lightning.
5 ambers is the quickest way to kill him, but you need 5 people who are very familiar with doing it that way, as the timing has to be perfect. One person is designated as the puller. The other 4 start to channel at the boss. This does not pull aggro. The puller, when he sees the 4 channels up, will fire his lance twice, then time stop, then fire his lance one more time. Then he hits channel..
As soon as his channel is active, the other four hit their lance and then immediately begin channeling again. As soon as their channels are all up the puller hits his lance and then immediately channels. Repeat this until he goes into the arcane phase with the orbs( It will only take about 30 seconds or so for him to hit around 50-60% and fade out)
Repeat the above until he is dead. A critical point I haven't mentioned yet are the time stops. Everyone needs to start their stopwatches at the beginning of the fight. Every 15 seconds the whelp adds are summoned, but they don't come if he is timestopped when he should be summoning them. So you need to have a rotation in place that timestops at, say, 12, 27, 42, 57, 72, 87 seconds. If he is faded out at one of those times, just timestop him at the next one.

See I feel like the caption doesn't fit.
When I looked at the picture I saw "One Gorloc...against the odds!" and then an epic Tiny Gorloc v. Giant Dragon fight ensues.
The gorloc almost loses, but through the power of friendship he pulls through at the end and saves his whole village from the menacing dragon, thus proving to the other Gorlocs that he his awesome. The final scene is a big party with people eating dragon-steaks, and the main-character gorloc finally getting together with the girl he's had a crush on for a long time.
Probably done in 3d by pixar.
Silversol Jul 14th 2009 10:43AM
Wouldn't pixar have the dragon eating with the gorloc that got the girl as well? all buddy-buddy?
Alchemistmerlin Jul 14th 2009 10:45AM
Possibly.
