Realm maintenance for July 14th

The Breaking News box has recently cropped up in-game, announcing tomorrow's maintenance for North American realms. As you can see in the image to the right, servers will be down from 3:00 AM PDT until roughly 11:00 AM PDT, assuming all goes well. If you're not sure what time this is in your timezone, use this timezone conversion tool.You know the drill, guys. WoW.com will, as always, be here all throughout the maintenance to cure your boredom. For you European readers, remember that some of you will be hit with an extended maintenance later on, which we've posted about already.

They are actually going to start giving better notice about these things.
I believe I saw a Belfaire post a couple days ago that said they would be revamping the maintenance system to allow them to give more than 12 hours notice.
I can't find the actual post, unfortunately, but the time frame that Belfaire had mentioned was 'soon'.

And how do they know when I'm going to have the house & internet to myself for some serious play time, so they can bring down the game at 8 pm? Huh? HOW?!?!
To answer your question, apparently it **would** be too hard. America's vast legion of insomniacs would all create a new character on the Oceanic servers and level it up in that 8 hour period, thus breaking the internets. You may point out that the US servers are largely empty at that time, which is why they created the Oceanic servers, and thus this legion of insomniacs may be a fiction, but ... shuddup! Is too hard!

What sucks for Pacific players is you get screwed out of being able to do champion dailies for a day too. I just now barely managed to get mine done before it went down but I'm never usually able to get home from work this early either.

Why do we keep having extended maint. days? WTB more communication from Blizzard as to WHY the servers have to be down for so long every week. It's nice being able to play a little in the morning before going to do stuff IRL, but alas you can't. (Yes, it's only one day of the week, but for the people who have Tuesdays off, it stinks.)
