WoW Moviewatch: 5Cap
It's been awhile since we've been able to enjoy any of the "Belf Rap" genre, so I was actually pretty happy to see a new work up on Myndflame. 5Cap is a quick rap piece by Abandonation (one of the "Druid Boyz"), animated and put to video by Red Eye Lobine. We actually saw the preview piece back in April, but the final music video has been completed.
5Cap has the same excellent graphics that we've come to expect from Red Eye. The machinimator really has an eye for detail, and astounding skills in making even Blood Elves feel "gritty" and "real." I would caution against over-exemplifying the main character as an all-powerful hero, but I do have to yield that kind of characterization is part of the hip-hop genre. Still, the undefeated nature of the video's protagonist felt a little unbelievable to me.
Abandonation really shows off some lyrical skill here. I liked the words, flow, and tempo of the song. He was clearly able to master the incredibly fast pace, while still carefully pronouncing each word in a comprehensible way. My only criticism of the song is that it's sometimes hard to hear how well Abandonation is mastering the poetry, because his voice gets obfuscated by the music.
Ultimately, 5Cap is pretty neat, and I hope this pair continues to grow their projects.

Blech.
impurezero Jul 15th 2009 12:15PM
I'll say one thing: It's no Fail guild recruitment song.

RedEye does a good job again in hes video editing.
Rexton Jul 16th 2009 12:17AM
The audio sounds way too...compressed I believe is the term, and it takes a lot away from the video.

Very nice animation.
Shame I can't understand a damn word he's saying.
Slog Jul 15th 2009 12:24PM
That beat is pretty dope, but its the only good thing about this video.
You cant be Tech N9ne dude, no one can.
Klop Jul 15th 2009 12:29PM
TechN9ne is pretty awful actually.
Almost all of the rappers featured in these machinimas should sit down with a copy of Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers of Death and listen to some real artists at work.

I had to do a double-take when I saw Tech N9ne mentioned in a wow blog's comments.
He did a CD-signing down the street from my house yesterday.
All I heard all day long was "thump. thump. thump thump thump thump." coming from the cars driving up and down the streets.

"It's been awhile since we've been able to enjoy any of the "Belf Rap" genre," for reasons detailed in the video.

Damn its a shame that its so short, the Donkey Kong remix BG is hot.

Animation is amazing
Souds like the lowend on the audio got a bit garbled or could very well be my work computer.
And to the inevitable "omg why dont u post gud musix like linkon park and jonas brothers gaiz" crowd different people like different things, novel concept I know.
I will never forget the druid boy (dr0000d) song, that sh!t was classic. "watch me switch to moonkin form and super-spam that ho dr00000d" lolwut :D No matter how much better the animation looks or how much more the crisper the audio is - no other machinima will ever touch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm63Gmaxlho IMO!!

I wasn't able to understand a word. The animation was nice, though.

Great animation! I loved the visuals. Too bad it was so short and the audio was so crappy. I got most of the lyrics, but seriously, these guys need a better recording setup. It sounds like the got together on Skype and used a headset mic.
Rocksanne Jul 15th 2009 12:54PM
Decent animation, but nothing new or imaginative; we've seen it all before. Terrible music, made worse by being unintelligible.
RetadinMan Jul 15th 2009 4:32PM
You kidding me? the only thing bad about Abandonation is his hate of Alliance.
Rocksanne Jul 15th 2009 7:30PM
Sorry. Should have said "Music so bad only Alliance could love it."
brucimus Jul 15th 2009 2:24PM
wonder how this Rogue sissy would do against a Prot Warrior? ...not 2 gud
Yeng Jul 15th 2009 2:33PM
Red Eye Lobine is good, but he needs to stop wasting his time with the shitty rapping people. I don't have a problem with rap, just bad rap.
The visuals were awesome, just needed to be watched while muted.

can't spell crap without rap
Keyra Jul 15th 2009 4:32PM
Don't you know? Silly, it's like the "g" in "gnu" - the "c" is silent.
