Breakfast Topic: So when is Patch 3.2 going to hit?

As I'm sure you all know, the Patch 3.2 background downloader has appeared, that fabled herald, signaling that a new patch will finally be appearing on live servers. The PTR has been heaving, bosses have been tested, Druids are rejoicing at their fresh new forms and even more Druid lore has been revealed. Can you feel the electricity in the air yet? The crackle of an-ti-ci-pation (Rocky Horror anyone?) as the patch drip-feeds into your computer? Exciting, huh?
Except it's never as easy as that, there's usually a gap between the appearance of the downloader and the patch actually going live. It's normally a couple of weeks but, well, when do you think it's going to be? We've guesstimated when it might drop in terms of months but the downloader is a sure sign that Patch 3.2 will be hitting Soon (TM). As usual we're probably not going to know for sure until the patch actually hits or we get confirmation from a Blue in the wee small hours of a Tuesday morning, but that doesn't stop a little healthy speculation now, does it?

Considering how last patch worked, we probably have about a month. I think it'll be released the week after Blizzcon honestly.

Soon™

Blizzard did say they would give us a month heads up in order to complete Ulduar hardmodes for the drake - we have not received any such advance warning. Looks like another month at best.

But not Soon™ enough!

Nah. I think the patch is going live in 2 weeks. Blizzard has a schedule to keep up with now for expansions to be released. I believe the time line is every 14 months and we only have 7 months until the next expansion goes live.

Now ----> Very soon ----> Soon ----> End of time

My guess is one week before BlizzCon, at the latest.
Blizzard doesn't want to be inundated with questions about the 3.2 patch when they need to concentrate on discussing bigger news of the moment (which is also Coming Soon™).

That's a pretty good guess.
I'm not going to get excited until they release the trailer for it. When that comes out, then you know it's soon. (same week soon, not Blizzard soon, hehe)

love the RHPS reference.

Some of us still haven't got the downloader to start ... downloading. Is it perhaps because we're in euroupe, or is it mearly a bandwith issue?
Do Wow-com have any info on if there's a difference between the EU and US patch-releases?

i think your problem is that you de-activated the background downloader last time you downloaded a patch, maybe the game ran too slow and you didnt want to download it while not playing the game. to fix this i think you go to options
Hanak Jul 16th 2009 8:51AM
nah, the downloader is running, but is says waiting, despite the fact that I've had it running the last 8 hours.
I've tried to turn background downloading and p2p on/off, but I think I'll give up and quit the downloader and let it run after the next playsession (as in tonight).

If the downloader is stuck on "Waiting", try pressing cancel to the right. Unintuitive, but it seems to have started the download for me.
Hanak Jul 16th 2009 1:44PM
you know, that actually worked ^^

I hope between August 15 and September 15. I will have a month to play then, after my summer holiday and before the AION live European servers :)

Monday 20th. I'm sure of this without a shadow of doubt.

When it's done!
Klop Jul 16th 2009 8:15AM
There was a post yesterday on exactly why the downloader would already be starting.
Jesu christe.

From the post: "there's usually a gap between the appearance of the downloader and the patch actually going live [...] but that doesn't stop a little healthy speculation now, does it?"
Obviously, the poster fully understands the technical reasons as to why the background downloads have begun. Her post in no way indicated a belief of "OMG! PATCH IS THIS WEEK!" She's just interested in hearing our best guesses as to when the patch might actually show up, to see what the general consensus is.
