WoW Moviewatch: Two Fellas
Warning: Spoilers about this movie appear in the review.
Like almost everyone else who is regularly featured in WoW Moviewatch, Silverlined Productions are busily grinding away on their movie presentation for BlizzCon. However, Nixxiom took a break from that effort, and threw together Two Fellas to keep us entertained during the interim.
As the video itself warns, Nixxiom didn't spend an inordinate amount of time building the video. It's interesting to note, though, he said it took three hours on the long end. That's a good point for folks who are new to machinima. This brief, short clip took three hours. It's important to keep that in mind when evaluating how much effort machinima authors spend creating their work.
The story is pretty short. A pair of humans are chilling out in Lakeshire, talking about how a pretty good movie was spoiled at the end by some randomness that didn't make any sense. Then a nun appears, who turns into a worgen. And then, randomness occurs. The final line of the movie is something like "I'm gonna rape you."
I found the bit pretty funny and enjoyed the movie. But the politically aware person wonders about that final line. Since the whole point is "this is random and crazy," I don't imagine there's any harm meant. After all, a common PvP phrase is "I'm gonna own you!" You're not really referencing slavery with that phrase, and Nixxiom wasn't trying to make light of rape as a subject. It was just a phrase. Still, it stuck out in my head, and I thought I'd mention it.
Overall, this video was actually a lot of fun, and I totally tip my hat to Nixxion. Thanks for the taking the time to put something out there, even while working hard on your BlizzCon efforts.

This should be a promotional video for 3 wolves moon t-shirt

I like to think they are talking about X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Awesome! Political correctness is ruining our collective sense of humor - but besides that, the line fit the scene. As an OMGWTF moment, the look on the guys faces and everything about it, it fit. And it was hilarious!

"Political correctness is ruining our collective sense of humor."
Whether this is true or not, it has nothing to do with shunning the video, which was subpar. If you want random/funny + rape, watch the Hand Banana episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. That's funny.

I've never been a fan of the whole animating "fake" mouths a la Robot Chicken. It looks... sloppy to me.
As for the actual video, some may find it entertaining, but it just wasn't for me. If you are working on a Blizzcon project, put your effort into working on that.

i always laugh at that last line... and flinch my bum...

Since there is a lot of negative reactions towards this video I thought I should explain why I thought it was funny.
First of all I agree that rape is a truly horrific and vile act. In no way should it ever be condoned. But the point here is not that the machinimast is saying it's ok, he is being random and delivers a line that wasn't expected. They were two guys and it was a werewolf. Remember, in comedy either everything is funny, or nothing is. There can't be a gray area or we limit free expresion. Flame me, call me a monster, but Nixxion did not mean any harm by his video.
Once again, I do not condone rape but I do support anyone who took the time to try to make people laugh.

nice, totally agree with u there, as I explain in my below post.

What's with using the word "rape" in such a flippant way these days? As one whose sister was the victim of such, I don't find it even remotely humorous. And no, I'm not being "politically correct" - instead I understand the meaning of the word and there is nothing funny about it. Ever. Downrate this if you want, I don't care - I just felt that it needed to be said.
As for the video itself? Yeah...it fails.

I whole heartedly agree with you here Agony.
I can't believe a supposedly respected WoW website such as WoW.com/Wowinsider would even post this video.
And this is coming from a male who hates political correctedness as much as the next person.
This video isn't funny, is poorly animated, has no point to it and isn't even worthy of the title of just a random wow video.

Yeah on my server 'rape' has become the new 'owned." I just raped those horde! Let's go rape Orgrimmar! It's always fun being the only woman on vent while the guys in your raid are yelling 'let's go rape that boss!"
And if you try to say something there's a quick 'oh sorry, no offense intended' but you know the boys are just waiting for the overly-sensitive female to leave so they can go back to their raping and pillaging. This isn't political correctness--this is acknowledgment of the fact that rape is trauma, rape happens mostly to women, and throwing it out (with a few anal jokes for added hee-haws) doesn't make it easier to listen to.

Some words should not be used as "humor". Some words should not be watered down by our "collective sense of humor" (@Tekz08). Words like rape should have a force behind them that brings about disgust and angry. When it is mention people should not have a Blasé attitude about it. And everytime someone types it in the guild channel, yells it over vent, posts it on their blog or puts it in their "funny" vidoe that's exactly what you are doing... you are watering it down and disgracing the people that have had such a horrible thing happen to them.
So have a heart, show some respect and let the word mean what it truely means. If you want to continue to hide behind the "it's just a joke" mentality then feel free, but down be surprised when people make assumptions about your heartlessness and lack of intelligence. Be a better person... don't turn someone else's pain into your punchline.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Mordockk Jul 16th 2009 1:52PM
All words can be used as humor....whether you dislike them or not.
That's why everyone has a different 'sense of humor.' To me, farts never get old.
What some may find offensive others find hilarious, and especially nowadays main steam comedians tend to be more offensive when looking for laughs.
As far as the word "rape" goes....you can't get mad at the word itself, I think you should focus your anger on the rapist.....
but ya, video sucked... i watched the movies n trailers on the official warcraft site earlier, those never get old...truly epic.

I think that I will keep using the term "rape" until I no longer find it funny. I'm a woman and I know I should (whether I'm female OR male) try and keep words meaning what they're meant to mean - rape is a horrible, and someone used the word vile, act. But I still think it's funny if a werewolf runs up to you and says he's gonna rape you. At least, if it's not me, and it's two guys with cartoon faces. Call me a sicko, but whatever, my humor is pretty dark.
But on the other hand, this movie wasn't very funny. Just pretty random. Heck I might have chuckled at it if I found it on YouTube, but why is it being posted on WoW.com??? Because the creator made something else much better? Meh.
What did someone say? WoW.com is scraping the bottom of the barrel? ;-) Agreed!
Arkeband Jul 16th 2009 2:10PM
They were obviously talking about *this* video, how it seemed good but then went random. The ending was also kind of lame, followed by a emoticon? Bla.
Waste of time imo.
Sihnon Jul 16th 2009 2:13PM
Right, it was just a joke....
Oh, because it was a werewolf, I'm supposed to think that's funny because getting raped by an animal is hilarious.
Oh, I really should be focusing on the rapist -- well that makes everything better especially when someone tries to throw it back in victim's faces like it something that is funny when it happens to people.
Oh, I'm being 'politically correct' by being offended...well, as a victim of rape I don't find ANY HUMOR in this at all!
It's "jokes" like this that makes people think that rape is not a malicious and violent act on a female or male. Where in what instance is rape funny? Ever?
