yes, and dungeons too.my mom started playing wow and was in a guild that catered to helping people out.she leveled all the way through to 80 without stepping foot in a single dungeon!!oh em gee i said mom you have to at least go back to do the BC ones, at least to figure out what your role is and the roles of the other people in your group.leveling is integral to learning your class, and grouping is integral to learning how to fight in a group.

Umm, no, Mom, you don't. You can level to 80 and have a great time doing so without ever setting foot in a dungeon. On my first couple of toons, I did run the dungeons, and it was fun, I admit, but I ultimately discovered that----It takes too long to form groups--It takes too long to run dungeons--You often end up grouping with jerks, know-it-alls, morons, and twits--There is often a lot of finger-pointing, name-calling, drama, and rage-quitting in groups--WoW is quite enjoyable and soloable on any class without the dungeons/raids--Instance runs are often incompatible with parenting and real-life issues that come up--The raid armors are laughably comical -- I am not in the least jealous of themSo I just stay out of the instances nowadays. Playing in a group is fairly simple for the occasional group quest; it is not rocket science. Perhaps playing in a group *for raiding* is more involved, but that is simply not an issue for many WoW players. So, the "players need training to work in groups" argument, an point I hear so often, only holds water for players that actually intend to run the group content. As for me, if WoW's latest patch erased Ulduar and all the rest of the raid content tomorrow I couldn't care less. :-)

I don't mean to offend, but why are you even playing a MMORPG, if you shun the MM part? It sounds to me like you've just had some bad luck in pugs...which is expected. I think you would find that guild runs are very different than pugs.

Because the MMORPG has replay value. They just don't make massive solo worlds, but you can run solo through a MMO. That's like asking why someone would eat at McDonald's if all they're going to get is a salad and a bottle of water, when there's greasy food to be had!

@ TomYou do realize that the majority of players are raiders?
