Even though I'm a BC baby, I had nearly all those things happen to me on your list, but let me add another:
This is all hypothetical, mind you *cough*.
Because you love mages and they were your first character, you thought the Hidden Path in Durotar was SUPPOSED to, after dying a few times, take you to Ratchet where you can cry and be lost and confused, without knowledge of the existence of a) the map, b) general chat (though it IS Barrens, who would help you anyway?) and c) a hearthstone.

Also, I never got Polymorph - Pig when I did the quest... it bugged and I didn't learn the spell. :(
