Breakfast Topic: Would you play a Worgen or a Goblin?

It's not that far-fetched, either. The Undermine, the home of the Goblins, is situated near the Maelstrom. Remember how Blizzard trademarked Cataclysm, which in Azerothian terms actually refers to the events around the Maelstrom? That means we just might see The Undermine in the next expansion. So Goblins aren't such a wild idea.
But what about the Worgen?
Well, remember how the human nation of Gilneas holed up behind the Greymane Wall? Who knows what's been happening behind that wall? And why are there so many werewolves hanging around there? Pretty curious. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough, though, considering Blizzard's been teasing us about it. These masks just might be more of the same.
Here's the deal, though... if Worgen and Goblins do become the next playable races, will you play them?
Would you play Goblin or Worgen?
It's not clear which side either race will be on, but some of you guys made great points yesterday - the Horde need a 'short' race. Goblins also man Horde zeppelins and run the Engineering shop in Orgrimmar. So playable Goblins could be Horde. On the flip side, Gilneas was a human town, so if it turns out to be a werewolf settlement, they just might ally themselves with the Alliance. Does this mean you'd pay for a faction change just to play a Worgen? What are your thoughts on this wild speculation?

Aren't there some worgen mages in SFK? Quite some time since I've been there.
And I suppose that if the gilneans turned into worgen (plausible?) the worgen have all their knowledge. And some gilneans were mages and even possibly paladins, so I don't see why not. But ye it would be strange :p

I can see Worgen being 4 classes as of right now:
Warriors (There's a given)
Hunters (If he/she has a wolf pet are they considered a "pack"?)
Shamans (Perhaps a stretch, but it if they go the way of alliance be nice alternative to Spacegoats)
Rogues (I would play a fist weapon rogue just to see it in action)
.... ok, maybe 5, but this one would be faaaar left field
Druid (Yes, I know, will never happen. Can dream can't I?)

Justin, none of your reply has much to do with what I actually said. In fact, you're using the same word, rugged, I used to describe dwarves repeatedly to describe the Horde races (other than belfs) as to why they're not "pretty" (which was not something I disputed). Yet you make no mention of dwarves, leaving only the implication that you still stand by your claim that all Alliance races are "pretty". You also completely failed to address my refutation of orcs looking like goblins, despite getting annoyed enough about my recommendation to check your eyes.
I read your post just fine, but you seem to be having trouble grasping my responses. You really should check your eyes. If there's nothing physically wrong with them, then maybe you should learn some humility and realise you're not as clever as you think you are.

Oh get a room you two.
If you'd ask anyone who's never played WoW chances are high they'd vote alliance as the "pretty" people and horde as the "ugly" ones. That's good enough definition to me, no matter personal opinions.
But regardless of this you don't know how Blizzard think, so the "prettiness" or "ugliness" of one race could work as a good reason to put it in either faction. The same goes for the goblin similarity to orc (yes there definitely is one, if by similarity you mean they look more like orcs than any other race currently playable in WoW).
Getting all worked up over definitons and quotations seems slightly over the top, when all we've got to work with are the screenshots of some masks.

Alliance are the "pretty" faction because they have the races that most resemble humans (making them easier to relate to), and because the races of the Alliance are generally portrayed in fantasy media as being "good". This compared to the Horde which contains orcs (bad), trolls (bad), Forsaken (bad), and Tauren (delicious).

@toddcore
"... and Tauren (delicious)."
As a Tauren, I approve of this humor.

And arent gnomes just a human pint sized? The horde needed a smaller race they get goblins, the Alliance needed beastly kind of race so they get Worgen, and if worgen can be hunter im going to be begging Blizzard for race changes, not fair that they introduce a new race that i'd have to level all over again just because i prefer the looks so much more instead of just paying a small fee to make my character look like the coolest race ive ever seen in WoW, that could of course be playable.
Satania Jul 18th 2009 9:13PM
Definitely would play a goblin, but screw the 11yr old whiny kids I'm making an f-ing worgen!
meatykid Jul 18th 2009 8:11AM
i think that we may be geting a llittle ahead of ourselves, however if worgen were to become playable, you can count on the fact i will be running around as one. i've never been into gnomes so i cant see why i would want to play as an uglier version of one.
also if worgen do make it into the game, expect to see nothing but them (blood elves all over again), in the words of the chuckle brothers oh dear..... oh dear, oh dear
joerendous Jul 18th 2009 11:46AM
every battle ground would look like a scene straight out of Underworld.
or Twilight.
Flint Jul 18th 2009 8:10AM
If Alliance gets worgen, it's becoming my main. Sorry my beloved dwarf hunter, but we're talking about an awesome animal race here.
Goblins I'm not bothered about.
AndiM Jul 18th 2009 8:11AM
Goblins would make for a good reason to finally start a Horde character :-). I don't like those wolves, sry.
Tuk Jul 18th 2009 8:12AM
As a horde player, I'd be pretty dissapointed if the Alliance got Worgen and all we got were those high-pitched annoying goblins. I'd be quite happy with Worgen... but I can't imagine Goblins going to the alliance side, lore-wise.
The Horde is supposed to be big and badass, last go around we got stuck with Blood Elves, I'm really hoping Blizzard doesn't stick it to us even worse this time around!
Wulfkin Jul 18th 2009 8:54AM
I feel the same, I would love a Worgen, but I wouldn't betray my Horde brothers to play one.
It could go either way of course. On the one hand, if the Worgen were former members of Gilneas it would make sense for them to try and rekindle affiliations with their human brethren, especially if Greymane is dead/deposed. On the other hand, Worgen could end up like the Forsaken, rejected by the humans they once were and end up turning to the Horde in order to survive.
On a selfish note, I really hope its the latter.
Gnimse Jul 18th 2009 9:27AM
You will be dissapointed if you get Goblins?
How do you think it is to have Draenei in The Alliance?!
snarkygoldfish Jul 18th 2009 10:07AM
@Gmise - You are actually complaining about the /waggle ?
Worgen are just gonna lure all of the "Sepiroth"s and "sxyelfmans" back to Alliance.
Horde, you owe us bigtime. :(
mot Jul 20th 2009 4:27PM
How do you think we feel about frickin Gnomes?
revan Jul 18th 2009 8:12AM
WTB Horde worgen shaman
Mr. A Jul 18th 2009 8:13AM
Perhaps the goblins will remain as a neutral faction in the next expansion and the Worgens will be a faction in the goblin city, like the scryers in Sattrath?
Either way, I would roll a Worgen!
Cloyster Jul 18th 2009 8:14AM
I think it's worth pointing out that Gilneas would be attatched to Silverpine forest - a level 13-20 area and the first place Forsaken players go straight after their starting zone of Tirisfal Glades. I think that Gilneas may be the starting zone for players choosing Worgen as their characters' race (as opposed to say, a raid instance)
The Goblin homeland could just as easily be a starting zone with a boat that goes to say, Westfall.
Ahhh, speculation. I've missed it since pre-WotLK.
