Breakfast Topic: Would you play a Worgen or a Goblin?

It's not that far-fetched, either. The Undermine, the home of the Goblins, is situated near the Maelstrom. Remember how Blizzard trademarked Cataclysm, which in Azerothian terms actually refers to the events around the Maelstrom? That means we just might see The Undermine in the next expansion. So Goblins aren't such a wild idea.
But what about the Worgen?
Well, remember how the human nation of Gilneas holed up behind the Greymane Wall? Who knows what's been happening behind that wall? And why are there so many werewolves hanging around there? Pretty curious. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough, though, considering Blizzard's been teasing us about it. These masks just might be more of the same.
Here's the deal, though... if Worgen and Goblins do become the next playable races, will you play them?
Would you play Goblin or Worgen?
It's not clear which side either race will be on, but some of you guys made great points yesterday - the Horde need a 'short' race. Goblins also man Horde zeppelins and run the Engineering shop in Orgrimmar. So playable Goblins could be Horde. On the flip side, Gilneas was a human town, so if it turns out to be a werewolf settlement, they just might ally themselves with the Alliance. Does this mean you'd pay for a faction change just to play a Worgen? What are your thoughts on this wild speculation?

I was thinking the same thing, but for the Goblins I could see them taking a boat to the Barrens instead.

Wouldn't be that hard to make the Kirin Tor town in Silverpine a real alliance town and make the zone contested, if they went that way.
Not saying they will... I actually do not believe Worgen will be a playable race, I think they're messing with our heads... but if they did, you could easily make Silverpine a leveling zone for Worgen. Heck, imagine all the 'go kill these Arugal-spawn who cursed us' quests you could do.

why do i feel like worgen will be alliance? :
Vivica Jul 18th 2009 8:39AM
I'd play Worgen. Even though I have never played alliance.. xD
Elsonosle Jul 18th 2009 10:38AM
Please, not any goblin to horde... please, worgs to horde lol
jam Jul 18th 2009 8:20AM
Yeah Worgen to alliance pls! They're missing a bit more beastly race.
That female Worgen looks kinda cute.
Realmreaver Jul 18th 2009 8:22AM
No way in HELL would I pass up playing the Worgan. I'd go Alliance in a heartbeat and I went Blood Elves due to BC and never looked back... til now... rather fondly to boot.
Sir7 Jul 18th 2009 9:15AM
Ohhh, so you're one of those kids who came over to play on my new lawn in Silvermoon city--get off my lawn! I really hope the Belf population gets cut when (if) Alliance gets Worgen.
Ronnica Jul 18th 2009 11:27AM
@Sir7
Oh, I hadn't thought about that! Yes, please, let the Alliance have them so we can get rid of some fairweather Blood Elves.
FOR THE SIN'DOREI!
Sir7 Jul 18th 2009 11:30AM
Stealth buff for The Horde amirite?
Guildenstern Jul 18th 2009 8:23AM
Worgen, as long as they avoid making the female models into furry fetish fuel.
Make them look like they could rip out a man's entrails using only their jaws armed with rows and rows of razor-sharp teeth, please.
snarkygoldfish Jul 18th 2009 10:12AM
this this this this this this this.
Dammit. Only way I will play a worgen is if they look suitably like crazed monstery killing machines and not "Oohhaybby" fodder.
*shudder*
Kolenka Jul 18th 2009 11:36AM
Don't worry, they will make the female Worgen as curvy as possible... just for you.
There was that "WTF" moment when you had the huge lumbering Draenei, and the female version which was the exact opposite.
Honestly, I hope that Worgen can be Warlocks, so I don't have to be a a Human or football to play one on the Alliance side.

@sir7
I like the way your mind works!
Travis Jul 18th 2009 8:26AM
Probably goblin. Goblin warrior or something.
As for the suggestions that you might be able to pick what faction you'd be, well. It's all very plausible - I can easily see it happening - but it brings to mind this question: what does that mean for PVP realms? If you're given the choice of what faction goblin/worgen you are, then on PVP realms there isn't really any choice. You'd only be able to play your new goblin or worgen as whatever faction you already were, unless you're on a PVE server.
WolfWoof Jul 19th 2009 3:45AM
They could have the starting area almost exactly like that of the Death Knights except that to join the 'real' world you'd have to choose to head to Orgrimmar/Stormwind, or Undermine/Gilneas. With phasing having been added to Wow, there can be multiple layers of each area. This would also cut down on run throughs for the new areas as only new toons would start there.
Volker Jul 18th 2009 8:30AM
Love to play a Worgen, and a goblin could be fun... but if the goblins pick a side, what happens to Booty Bay, etc.? Does that city remain neutral like Moonglade?
Also, there will never be a race playable by both sides. Blizzard has stated firmly that, in pvp, races and factions have to be identifiable by silhouette, not just by the color of the name.
Ed Jul 18th 2009 8:37AM
With Blizzard, never say never. ;) I'd expect that if the goblins do pick a side, it would be just one faction of them - they're quite fragmented, so the Steamwheedle Cartel should be able to carry on as normal.
Arslan Jul 18th 2009 8:31AM
I don't know if someone's said this already (didn't want to read through every page of comments) but if the goblins become playable on one of the factions what happens to the Steamwheedle Cartel goblins? There'd have to be a lore reason for why they were neutral, although the Cenarion Circle have members from both races so I guess it wouldn't be that much of a problem...
Thyrial Jul 18th 2009 3:11PM
Read up a little on the goblins lol... The goblins are made up of several groups each loyal to a particular trade prince. If there were playable goblins it would only be one (maybe two) of these groups, the rest (including the Steamwheedle Cartel) would most definitely remain neutral.
