Battle.net authenticator now available for other platforms

There's only one catch - unlike the original mobile authenticator found in the App Store, these new versions aren't free. The prices vary depending on your country due to PayPal conversion rates, but they amount to roughly $1 (it's €0.50 in parts of Europe).
Despite the need to purchase it, we at WoW.com can't recommend it highly enough. Account security is an important thing, particularly with the rampant account hacking and phishing going on these days. Now that it's available to use in a wide variety of platforms, there's little reason not use the Battle.net mobile authenticator. A dollar is a very small price to pay for that additional layer of security.
Editor's Note: Apparently now the download is showing as "Coming soon" for US/EU carriers. It was showing as up before, but now is not. We blame the Gnomes. Or Ghostcrawler.
Thanks to Medros from All Things Azeroth for the tip!

What happens if you change phones? Is there a code you place to merge the account and new phone while disabling the older phone?

Each application has a serial number that comes with it. Write that serial number down (you can access it from the application itself anytime) and keep it. If something happens and you can't access the app you will need that code to get help from Blizz.
When switching phones you can use that code to unlink the authenticator on your old phone from your Battle.net account. **Make sure you unlink the authenticator before deleting the application from you phone! You need the serial number AND the current authenticator number being displayed to unlink it!**
After that you'll need to download a new authenticator (and pay the 99 cents USD) onto your new phone and set it up the same way you set up the old one. This new app on the new phone will have a different serial than the app on your old phone, so it will have to be set up with Battle.net again. Don't forget to write down your new serial number and keep it somewhere safe.
Hope this helps a bit! *^_^*

Please, for the love of God, follow http://mobile.blizzard.com, and it works there, dead centre, "Add mobile Auth.", and the list of phones aren't endless but very very awesome. £0.50 for a mobile £9 donglie.

@i.like.muse As I pointed out to my friends, a software application implementation of a 1 time pad is easier to break when it's in a non-isolated enviroment than a closed loop device. I ploped down the money for the physical authenticator token because I'm in that fringe group that never wants to find out that I've been hacked even if I do visit sites I really shouldn't be going to.

Yeah, by "the mobile authenticator can now be used on virtually any phone that can run third-party applications" they meant pretty much anything but smartphones.
With the (obvious) exception of the BlackBerries, which are the most basic smartphone you can get, I see no real support for anything but super-basic junk phones.

I'm sort of surprised that my nearly 3-year-old Sony Ericsson was on the list! They seem to have most of the major providers in Canada. I have it downloaded, and I am setting it up right now. Looks great so far!
Thanks, Blizz! (and wow.com for the heads up *^_^* )

UPDATE: It's all set up and working wonderfully. It looks just like the iPod Touch/iPhone version (only less resolution on my tiny phone screen) and works just as well! I was able to log in with no problem.
Thought I'd also note that I didn't receive the text message that you should get after payment (of 99 cents USD), but they give you a URL to follow in case you don't get the text, and that way worked fine for me.
Cheers! And sorry if this posts twice... I can't see my reply that I wrote so this is attempt #2.

Just at a glance it doesn't have any support for WinMo-based phones. Guess I will have to wait for that iPhone.

Blame Canada.

I set mine up, but I have to ask: When I start this up to get my code, is it connecting to the internet?
