BlizzCon is one month away!
BlizzCon 2009 opens exactly one month from today. We are so excited - it's all we're talking about in the virtual office. Not only will there be lots of WoW news, there will also be plenty of stuff for the StarCraft and Diablo fans. Personally, I'm dying to get my hands on some Diablo III. Here is a roundup of everything we know as well as a little speculation of what we think may happen at the Anaheim Convention Center next month.
If you don't have tickets, but will still like to go, there are some contests still running:
The schedule won't be released until just before the con opens, unfortunately. But we do know a few things that will definitely be at BlizzCon 2009:
BlizzCon 2009 is coming up on August 21st and 22nd! We've got all the latest news and information. At BlizzCon, you can play the latest games, meet your guildmates, and ask the developers your questions. Plus, there are some great looking costumes.
If you don't have tickets, but will still like to go, there are some contests still running:
- Steelseries. Ends July 31. 2009.
- Razer. Ends August 3, 2009.
- Nvidia. Ends August 1, 2009.
The schedule won't be released until just before the con opens, unfortunately. But we do know a few things that will definitely be at BlizzCon 2009:
- Contests: Costume, Fan Art, Dance -- Blizzard will be holding some contests on-site and displaying the results of the pre-con ones. There is still time to enter the Best Fan Art, Best Original Song, and Best Movie Using WoW Footage contests until July 31, 2009.
- Developer Panels: StarCraft, Diablo and Warcraft will all be represented.
- Creative Team Panels: There will be discussions from Blizzard's Cinematics, Sound/Music and DVD/Video production teams
- Tournaments: The StarCraft Invitational, Warcraft III and WoW Arena tournaments will all be held during the con.
- Jay Mohr will again be the host.
- Ozzy Osbourne
- A Cataclysmic announcement
- New playable races
- Bad behavior
- Funk (not the good kind)
- Lodging: If you don't have your lodging yet, you may have issues finding some close to Anaheim. But L.A. is a huge city, so there are always options.
- Travel: You can get there by plane, train or automobile. (No one recommends the bus, but that is an option, too.)
- Money: I hope you're already saving, because the food is expensive and the souvenirs won't be free.
- Cards: Think of it as in-person social networking. There is still time to order minicards to trade with fellow Blizzard fans at the con.
- Health: Standing in lines and exposure to nasty bugs are really hard on the health. In order to enjoy BlizzCon to the fullest, start getting in shape and building your immune system now. Also, the cement floors are far more unforgiving than what the normal geek is used to, so invest in shoes that will support and cushion your feet and legs.

I'm so excited, this will be my first time going!
I'll be a little sad because Summer will be over, but what a way to end with a bang :D

Givashit, givashit.
Blizzcon is for the people with no life.
They require the special toys and pets to justify how they spend their time.
These are the same people who buy 500 boxes of baseball cards to get a Joe Mauer rookie card.
I wish them well, but i think I'll go out and get a Starbucks.

I hope that sense of elevated superiority makes that 8.00 coffee taste good.

So do you say the same thing about those who are enthusiastic about art, comics, other video games, anime, sci-fi, sports, cars, tattoos, and all other hobbies/lifestyles and go to the conventions that give these people a venue to meet others like them, buy and sell things related to their hobbies, etc.? :O Or are you just jealous because you won't be able to go? :P I know I am.

I, too, can't wait for some hands-on Diablo III. Also, fingers crossed my original songs wins the contest. :)

Does anyone remember how long before last year's BlizzCon that the Diablo III Rune Splash Screen went up on all of Blizzard's sites? Was it just a week or two? Just wondering when we can expect to see some sort of teaser.

When I got my tickets ordered online, it said we were supposed to receive yet another confirmation e-mail one month prior to the event with additional info.
Anyone get this fabled e-mail yet?
