In my long treks across the Internet, I have seen some pretty strange viewpoints. "Gays need to be exorcised", "I'm getting a divorce because gays are getting married", etc. But none of those things bother me as much as this quote from docp: "If someone is getting upset about [using "gay" as an insult] I think that's their problem. I use it as a generic insult with no intent to insult homosexuals, if someone takes it for something else then that's their problem."It does not matter what your intent is. If I say "Black people are bad!" when I really mean "Could you pass me the salt?" then that is MY problem for using a hurtful and wildly inappropriate phrase to say a very simple thing. If you don't intend to hurt homosexuals, just don't call something "gay". This should be such an easy problem to fix- there are plenty of other words to use that don't potentially harm millions of human beings. Also, identifying yourself as gay ingame is not "bringing real life issues into the game." Homosexuality is not an issue. It is a trait- part of someone's identity. What IS an issue is calling something "gay" when you don't like it. GLAAD is not bringing any issues into the game. They are trying to educate people about an issue that hurts many players daily so that it can be corrected. Then everyone can move on with their life and loot more leet purps.
