The Queue: Snape, snape
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com's daily Q&A column where the WoW.com team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.
In celebration of the recent release of the new Harry Potter movie, I've decided to expose the two of you out there that have never seen the above video to... well, the above video. I'll say no more, folks. Watch it, then read on! Probably in beat with a metronome!
Mannas asked...
"With the new feature to switch factions, will we finally have a way to "mail" items across factions by making a toon, sending the item there, switching factions and then mailing on? Or will they somehow limit this?"
We don't know the restrictions on faction changing yet, but when they do server transfers, they make you empty out your mailbox. You probably could put an heirloom from your Alliance characters in your bags then switch over to Horde with it, yeah. They might put a restriction on doing that though, who knows? You can probably do it but we won't know for sure until they come out and tell us.
Logan asked...
"Are there any official lists of all the easter eggs/references to real life people/events in the game?"
There isn't an official list anywhere that I'm aware of, no. As many other readers mentioned yesterday, Wowwiki is a good place to check for that though, they have numerous lists. They have lists for pop culture references, in-jokes, and easter eggs.
037 asked...
"Break it down for me... What is going to happen to my old badges when 3.2 hits? Should I spend them now because they will be useless? Will I be able to use them in conjunction with the new badges?"
Your old badges will still be able to be used for everything you can use them for right now. All new items will use Conquest badges, and Heroics and such will only drop Conquest badges. If you're short a few Valor badges for something you want, you can trade Conquests down to Valors, but you can't trade anything up. Comprende?
Abbadon asked...
"Since DKs have different NPCs when doing the four champion level AT dailies and get Ebon Hold rep instead of Argent Crusade rep, is the Crusader title based on being exalted with EH (for DKs), or do DKs still need to get AC rep as well?"
I believe Death Knights do need to grind Argent Crusade rep, yes. If I'm wrong on that, hopefully a Death Knight that has done it will correct me in the comments, but that's how I understand it. The achievement itself isn't any different for them, they just need to do it a bit differently.
Tyler asked...
"If I were to cancel my WoW subscription... does that mean all of my characters will be deleted? If not, what would have to happen for them to be deleted? Besides doing it manually, I mean."
No, your characters are not deleted when you cancel your subscription. You can leave the game for a very long time, and when you come back your characters will still be there waiting for you. I've had guild members come back to the game a year or two after they'd originally quit and all of their characters were as they left them. I don't think that Blizzard will ever take your characters away unless you delete them yourself or you do something to get banned.
kooda asked...
"Why is there currently no water in Dalaran sewers on the PTR did they forget to pay their bill? Although they are mages, have they forgotten they have the spell conjure water or do they just not have enough mana left?"
There's no water in the Stormwind canals, either. Gasp! Could it be a precursor to the Maelstrom!? Are the Naga draining Azeroth's water supplies now, since they failed in Outland!? Was Serpentshrine Cavern only a setback!??
Nah, it's just a bug.
Jason P asked...
"How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood in Crystalsong Forest?"
None. They would break their little teeth! Woodchucks just aren't built to chomp magical crystalwood. Why do you hate the poor woodchucks, Jason?

Wow. That's news to me that DK's don't have the same AT champ quests the rest of us do. Makes sense tho the Argent Crusade and Ebon Blade have differing ideas on how to defeat the big guy.
Falcom Jul 21st 2009 6:12PM
The quests are exactly the same. Different rep and different quest givers is the only difference.

Ah ok thanks for clarifying.

So I'm pretty new to the whole PvP Season Gear thing and I have a question about how it works. From the reading I've done it seems to me that each time a new season starts, as it will in 3.2, they add new gear and as such the older gear costs less Honor and/or Arena points. Is this something that happens every time a new season starts? And as a player who does pretty much only battlegrounds would it be wise to save my honor until 3.2 drops so I could get some Deadly pieces (which now cost honor and AP) instead of the currently available Hateful pieces(currently costing only honor)? Thanks!
Elwoods Jul 22nd 2009 5:41AM
Since we're not sure how long it is to 3.2 you'll probally reach the honor cap long before it.
What I'm doing on my new 80 is spending any honor I have as I go along and saving all my marks to trade in when 3.2 hits and I can get some deadly pieces.
If you can get 100 of each mark your pretty set for 3.2 (you will have to run the new BG to get marks there as well though)
You can also do 10 games of arena a week to get 261 arena points and get discounts on the current gear.

Since Blizz has a weird Honor cap of 75,000, you'll probably cap out before patch day so I'd recommend spending some of that honor. I'm saving it up so I can stay as close to the cap as possible, but in the meantime, its good to start filling out a few pieces of gear so you can get the set bonus and some extra resil. You could also pick up a ring or trinket since they're dual-slot items that can make it easier/slower to replace that piece while still picking up a new pvp ring/trinket.
My question goes on though, specifically @Elwoods: these marks, are you just talking AV mark of honor, WSG mark of honor, etc? How do those get converted into anything useful, and what will I be able to spend them on? There's nothing for level 80s listed in the "Used as currency for..." tab on wowhead. I have a bunch of AV and AB marks but I can't find anything useful to spend them on. There are mounts, but I have most of those, and is there really not a way to turn BG marks in for honor anywhere?
skurfer48 Jul 22nd 2009 3:20PM
Yea, guess I didn't realize the honor cap was so low. I'll probably stay close to it and buy gear as I get too much. Also, the idea of saving up the marks is a good idea.
And to answer the second question, I'm assuming he means saving the marks so you can do a whole bunch of the Honor turn in quests. It would be like saving up a bunch of honor, except it's not in the form of honor yet so you won't have to worry about the cap.
Although you do bring me to another question. Why hasn't Blizzard added any gear or anything at all for that matter purchasable with Marks of Honor from Strand of the Ancients and (based on what I'm seeing on WoWhead PTR site) nothing is coming with the Isle of Conquest ones either. Although I like not having to decide between doing the honor turn in quest and buying gear with marks, it certainly would be nice to have another way of obtaining said gear.
Gothia Jul 23rd 2009 6:54AM
El is right about the honor marks, but sadly mistaken about how to gear up for Arena.
1. Trade honor in for marks, when 3.2 becomes active buy new epic gems for said saved honor. Go to auction house and sell gems for the unbelievably marked up price they will be selling for during the 1st week of 3.2.
2. Contact one of your servers top 10 Arena 5's teams and offer 5K gold for a boost to 2K rating.
3. Buy latest tier gear.
This way not only will you get the latest gear, but you will also have gotten the experience of being with a highly rated team.

I've heard alot about being able to buy tier armor from tokens dropped from heroics when the patch hits. What tier is purchasable? am I able to buy chestguard of the lost whatever and turn them in for tier 8 (ulduar armor sets) or am I going to be saving up tokens for the argent tier?
Turtlehead Jul 22nd 2009 1:17AM
Emblems of Conquest will drop which buy http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45624#currency-for. T8 (Ulduar) gear.
BladedDingo Jul 22nd 2009 2:36AM
So does that still mean you are able to buy the entire tier 8 set, or just the tokens that are available now, Chest and gloves.
Meth Jul 21st 2009 6:23PM
So I should stop running heroics for scrubs... I thought I was saving up for the great good (the badges of heroism would have converted into conquest) but I guess I am wrong... so just buy all sorts of gear now and call it quits until 3.2?
Jafari Jul 22nd 2009 12:20PM
That is correct, sir.
Running heroics today will only get you badges of heroism, so unless you have some ilvl 200 stuff you still need, or want some heirloom stuff, you have no use for them, and will not have any use for them later.
Of course, hopefully running heroics is *fun* so that's pretty much your only reward for now.
