WoW Moviewatch: Cruel, Cruel Moon
You may have missed it, but there's been some talk lately about whether or not Worgen could be a playable race in the next expansion. In light of that discussion and the overwhelming amount of love shown yesterday for Spiff's The Future Soon, today's featured movie is Cruel, Cruel Moon. The recommendation was made via our own Elizabeth Harper, who apparently has a friend who's quite the fan of Spiff.
The song Cruel, Cruel Moon was written by Paul & Storm, who spend a lot of their touring time with Jonathan Coulton. The song is about a man who's begging the moon not to rise, because his beloved partner is likely to turn into a werewolf. Spiff's video captures the lighthearted feel of the song excellently, and the whole thing moves at a wonderful pace. I have a lot of appreciation for this kind of music, since it tends to last long enough to enjoy the joke, without overstaying its welcome and dragging on too long.
During the credits, there's a bonus feature song. Frogger! The Frogger Musical endcaps the whole video perfectly.

Tips for future Machinima makers:
1.) Comedy is good, everyone can do comedy.
2.) Music Videos featuring WoW do 90% better if they do not have Blood Elves.
3.) Parodies are always good.
4.) Don't mouthbreath into the mic.
5.) use this video as a reference for good future videos.

Words of wisdom, my friend.

Hear hear.
I think the only serious machinima I've enjoyed is the one with Cranius and Summergale. Top notch stuff from a great musician and a good singer. May be a little biased since I loved the song Big Blue Dress that Cranius did. :P
No more white boi voiced rapping blood elves please. Actually let's just cut the rap out altogether.

As far as I know the songs are album recordings and weren't made for WoW or machinma in general. The artist (artists)? are simply a comedy group. Spiffworld takes their songs and makes these videos from them.

Yeah I know, I was talking about the Ulduar machinima that Cranius, Summergale and Legs did. :)

I laughed when they showed the sketch of the possible suspect. So much orc hatred! :(
Great movie!

What's with all the Spiffworld movies? I don't have a problem with them, in fact they're insanely funny, just curious. And, to those who say no to blood elves in WoW machinima, watch Tom Cruise Crazy and Mr. Fancy Pants - if you don't flood the machinima with the things, then you should be fine.

Yeah, but you gotta admit, for both of those movies it fit. :P Some people just overuse Blood Elves, but I also get sick of seeing Humans too. I'd rather see more Tauren, Trolls, and Draenei.

Love it.

I love Spiffworld's videos. While the songs themselves may not be World of Warcraft parodies, he can still make them work out and the result is pretty much always awesome.

This is pretty hilarious.
