Authentication problems continue

The transformation process can be initiated at us.battle.net. It only takes a few minutes and is relatively painless. Converting your account to Battle.net is not required at this time, but I don't think anyone should be surprised if it is soon.
Malkorix has said that there are problems, and they are aware of the problems, but don't have any ETA on a fix at this time. He also makes a point to note that converting your account to Battle.net is only a reported and unconfirmed by Blizzard solution. However we can say that we haven't seen any issues with Battle.net accounts.
We'll update this post when we have more information.
Update: The issue is fixed, for now.

And this is my first *First* post ever in my whole life on public comments/forums.
I'm strangely excited.

Welcome to the interwebs!

15 minutes since I converted to Battle.net and it still gives me the error "There's no WoW account associated with this Battle.net account".
Lupius Jul 23rd 2009 5:57PM
Finally in!

I recently signed up and merged my WOW accounts to Battle.net, now I wished I never did, one toon in particular (my main) DC's continually at startup, many more DC's in general, and worse latency than before the merge. As WOW is the only Blizzard game I have and play, I can't see any benefit to me as a customer.

Blizzard's desires to get a stubborn player base to switch to Battlenet make this situation "interesting".
olzer Jul 23rd 2009 4:27PM
Agreed. Was just thinking "Are Blizzard are shoving these 'authentication issues' at us to make us switch to Battle.net accounts?"
Metatron Jul 23rd 2009 4:56PM
That's just what I was thinking!!! You read my mind! Wait... how did you read my mind??? OMG where's my tinfoil hat?!?!?!
kuri Jul 23rd 2009 5:11PM
Except for all those days a few months back where people who upgraded to Battle.net accounts were having authentication issues. I'm sure Blizzard was super-happy that would help conversion rates.
crsh Jul 23rd 2009 6:27PM
They should've just made it mandatory with a grace period of 3 or 6 months, toss in a minor reward to entice people to convert their account to BattleNet if needed (a 300% XP bonus for a week for all characters on the account or whatever).
Stephen Jul 23rd 2009 6:54PM
Yeah, i brought this up to my guild. Really the only ones who had already converted were those who were vanity pet collectors. LOL The conspiracy theorist in me thinks this is intentional. The sane one says problems happen.

Taken from battle.net
" All Blizzard Accounts have been converted into new Battle.net accounts. "
Does this include wow accounts?
Adam Holisky Jul 23rd 2009 4:28PM
No. Blizzard accounts were what you got when you bought something from the Blizzard Store, etc...
You have to manually merge your WoW account into your Battle.net account.
gasmask Jul 23rd 2009 4:36PM
Well it took me two minutes to confirm and I was able to login right away. Conspiracy or not two minutes of my time wasn't that big a deal considering I'm going to be raiding for a couple hours tonight.
Cyanea Jul 23rd 2009 4:29PM
I did it last night, just to get away from the Authentication errors.
mtsadowski Jul 23rd 2009 4:36PM
That's how I switched to the Battle.net account. Something about Macs - can't remember the details. And then after that, the Battle.net people had trouble. Switching to this is not always sunshine.
energyvortex Jul 23rd 2009 4:40PM
Well I gave in and linked accounts. This is SO annoying. Now I have a public email address and it's password associated to a game whose accounts are daily targets for thieves. And the message says there's no way to un do it once it's done. Nice.
Well - I have the authenticator so if I believe the koolade; I'm safe. But I swear, the first time I'm hacked and lose my account is the same time I cancle the 4 accounts I'm running... I don't like this "forced" merger...
guess I'll figure out how to change my password and email to make it something much harder to guess or find...
Caz Jul 23rd 2009 4:49PM
@energyvortex Um...you don't have to keep the same passwrod for your e-mial and Warcraft account. the login/username might be the same, but having the same password on both of them is quite foolish. Just change your WoW password to something new, the way you used to - through worldofwarcraft.com account management.
