Ghostcrawler adds to Hunter Q&A
As promised, there's a new version of the Hunter class Q&A up on the official forums. Very little has changed from the previous version, actually, but they did add the following question:
Q: Do we have plans to increase the number of stable slots available to hunters?
A:Obviously we increased it a lot in Wrath of the Lich King. We want to try and keep the pet as some kind of decision - they aren't supposed to be like mounts or titles where you just collect as many as you want. We expanded the size so that players could have say a Tenacity pet for soloing and a Ferocity pet for raiding, but we don't want every hunter to have every family available here. Now one potential problem are the Spirit Beasts, which are collected by hunters and not trivial to replace. We have also discussed expanding the Spirit Beast concept to have rare skins of other pet families (that otherwise don't convey a combat bonus). If we do that, we'd probably have to expand the stable slots.
We've also considered a model where the hunter doesn't even need a stable and can work more like a warlock where they can just summon their pets whenever they want - with the remote stable ability from the dual-spec feature, we're pretty close to that already. If we went this route then maybe the stable could just become pet storage in the same way your bank has all those Invader's Scourgestones and Zul'Gurub bijous that you don't use often but can't bear to part with.
That's all we can see that's changed with the Q&A.

Yet again i am blown away by GC's ignorance.
there are ALREADY many rare skins that we go collect. All of my pets are rare skins, and many other hunter try to get a rare, I spent 3 weeks waiting for Uhk'loc because he kept getting killed, Rak'shiri was easier no one goes to that area so it took me 3 days. I am hardly alone in going after rare skins, and spirit beasts are not the only mob we do this with. And none of those are "trivial to replace" either.
How can he not know that we do this?

"How can he not know that we do this? "
Not sure how long you've been playing a hunter, but you seem to forget
- we had a 'class rep' that for 2 years DIDN'T PLAY A HUNTER
- we were added in the closing seconds of beta, and were barely functional upon release
- Blizz still hasn't quite understood what they want hunters to be...sure, teh Q&A said 'ranged dps using physical damage' ... since when has the type of damage really mattered...ever? (And note that description obviates PETS entirely...whups)

What? Still no dual handguns? pfft! If we have to die so much in PvP at least let us die in style! Dual handguns, NOW!

I wish they had answered a problem I sorta have with hunters.
All goldfarming bots are hunters. What is Blizzard doing to tweak the hunter class so that it can't be botted so much? They're always Beastmastery spec, so there has to be some tweaks there. I've seen them kill mobs for hours without ever stopping to eat or drink. Surely Blizzard can tweak something there.

If they are gunna make Huntards like Warlocks... Then Warlocks should get Talent trees on their pets, a pelethora of skins for their demons, remove the outdated soulshard system, and hell... give Warlocks the ability to use guns and traps while their at it?! HECK! Lets make all the classes the same!
Fail...
GC... get your opinions about all the classes concrete. You're about as stationary as a piece of JELL-O in your opinions and concepts of the "future of classes".
Mmmm JELL-O... ::starts to wiggle and jiggle::

I have one question about GC's "quandary" regarding BM.
In BM, you're sacrificing a lot (like any spec, really) to get to the top of the talent tree.
For that 51st-point talent, MM gets Chimera, and Surv gets Explosive shot.
Here's my basic question then - how much +dps does a Surv hunter (for example) gain when they get explosive shot (at max lvl)?
The BM tree gives you what, 5 extra pet talent points?
I could certainly be wrong and I'd leave it to more intense theorycrafters than myself, but I sincerely doubt that those 5 pet talent points can increase the hunter+pet's combined DPS by as much. Hunters are, as far as I can tell from Blizz comments, all about naked dps. There's no longer any more than marginal utility to traps, etc. So if DPS is the yardstick, I'd like to know that the 51st BM point gives me as much as the 51st Surv point, if they want BM to be considered worthwhile.

To explain how much it helps you really have to go into pet details. Some pets do more damage than others, so 5 points makes a good difference in damage because you get those points to buff up that damage. Other pets don't do damage period, life say a tanking pet that is being used to just hold aggro, so 5 points doesn't change your damage output that much. However in that regard you're not really looking for more damage.
To get to your point though, compared to the other two classes, most of the time the damage output is no where close to that of survival or mm. (Assuming you can do the rotations) Personally, I notice a 300-500 dps drop based on buffs on myself and my pet from raids/dungeon/free roaming from my survival spec, but i still love running around with a spirit beast, so i'll take the dps drop in raids (except uld.) because i like to enjoy myself. I'm sure some people have a much higher difference in damage and dps with different play styles and gear, so a lot of the ideas on dps are relative.
P.S. I remember when i was a lone survival hunter in pre-bc, everyone laughed at my spec, but pvp no one could touch me, and in raids i was still up at the top. How good the person is at knowing their class is what is important.

Dual-Spec means Dual Stable Slots
We had 4 stable slots and 1 pet out giving us 5 pets prioir to dual-spec.
That = 5 pets for 1 spec
You bought Dual-spec? you should get 5 additional stable slots free for your 1000G purchase.
Warlocks can summon a variety of minions, each exhibiting different skill sets which are useful in different situations.
The Imp is a warlock's first minion, and provides additional damage and survivability for the warlock. At higher levels, the Imp can also provide mana. At level 10, warlocks learn to summon a Voidwalker, which makes an excellent tank for a soloing warlock. Later minions include the Succubus (a rogue-like demon with an important CC ability), the Felhunter (an anti-caster demon), the Infernal, the Doomguard (the most powerful minion), and the Felguard (with Demonology talents).
In addition, warlocks can enslave demons found while adventuring, to act as their minions for a short time.
Who gets more pets Mr. Warlock?
