Bruce Campbell and Metzen on the movie at Comic-Con
I have geeked out many times while writing for this site, but I think this is the geekiest geekout I've ever geeked out about: Bruce Campbell talking about World of Warcraft. He's hanging out at Comic-Con promoting Burn Notice (a series that I'm still watching, if only because of him), and IGN cornered him on the topic of his friend Sam Raimi's new movie, based on our very own Azeroth. Campbell says he has no idea what Raimi has in mind for the movie, and that he only just heard about the job when we did. But then he says something that will lift all of our geeky hearts: when it comes time for casting, Bruce says, "I'll get a call." And Raimi will say to him, "You play some schmuck. Some idiot guy. Some garbage man."We can't think of too many garbagemen in Azeroth -- Topper Mcnabb, maybe? But the fact that Campbell knows about the movie and is ready to take a role is good enough for us. And he isn't the only person speculating on the part he might play: Chris Metzen brought up Campbell at Comic-Con and suggested he might play a CG-based character, like a goblin. That doesn't sound so awesome to us, though -- you've gotta let that world-famous mug shine through. It does seem a little unlikely that Campbell would play a really huge part, but a lot of people have brought up Varian Wrynn, and we can't really think of any part more fitting (plus, maybe that means the movie will focus on Horde instead of Alliance). Hail to the King, baby!
Keep an eye over on our sister site Massively for more Comic-Con coverage all this weekend, and if we hear any more about the movie, we'll be sure to let you know.

Well, you win this thread.
I guess the only question remaining is what role Ted Raimi will have. I'm thinking Jitters.

My vote is for Captain Placeholder.

A perfect idea for a simple Bruce Campbell cameo, Zummers.
It's really not all that hard to imagine Bruce Campbell, decked out in armor, uttering "Alright, chumps. Time's up, let's do this" and then charging to his swift death. Hell, I'd pay the $10 for admission if that were the opening scene, regardless of how the rest of the movie was.

I believe I already said Leeeeeeeeroy Jenkins back on the Sam Raimi directing post! :P

That would be perfect for some final epic battle.
Just have like... everyone charging in slow-motion with epic music playing, then all of a sudden you see him yelling in slow motion "LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOOOOYYYYYY JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINSSSS!"
And he's wielding a giant chicken leg.

That Jenkins thing was a riot for the first week. You must just now be catching up with the internet... You probably lol at machinima.
Campbell is beyond you - he belongs to us, the cool geeks. Not you posers who laugh at Kevin Perrarearawhogivesashitheshoulddieinafire's jokes.

Bruce Campbell is the most underrated actor ever. He's pure awesomeness and if he's in the movie it's going to be great no matter what!
epicboyz Jul 24th 2009 7:47PM
BC wont stand for Burning Crusade anymore... it will now refer to Bruce Campbell!

If Metzen has anything to do with this film it will be awesome and not a one-sided lame alliance movie.
That said, if it becomes a one-sided lame alliance movie AND Bruce Campbell is the lead actor... shit just became full of win. As much as I HATE the alliance, man, Bruce Campbell... Dude better be the lead. If this became Evil Dead 4 - damn that would rule.

I think he'd make a great Varimathras

The movie was always going to be told from the ALLIANCE side, and i haven't seen anything suggesting blizzard plans to change that. Sorry to crush your hopes Mike.
Also if you think about it, if they want to interest a decent number of non-warcraft players/fans, it would be a bad business decision to base the movie on creatures no1 can relate to (aka the horde). It needs to be Human focused to bring in the non wow crowd.

You don't see many movies, do you?

I dunno why this guy got downrated, Blizzard said themselves they were making it from an Alliance influenced POV, doesn't mean Horde is BAD/EVIL, just that, for this first movie at least, things are going to be portrayed as happening to the Alliance, but I'm sure there will be orcs/trolls etc. Sorry hordies :P just make sure you see it 40 times if it's good and the sequel can be from the horde's POV.
For Lordaeron!
