Bruce Campbell and Metzen on the movie at Comic-Con
I have geeked out many times while writing for this site, but I think this is the geekiest geekout I've ever geeked out about: Bruce Campbell talking about World of Warcraft. He's hanging out at Comic-Con promoting Burn Notice (a series that I'm still watching, if only because of him), and IGN cornered him on the topic of his friend Sam Raimi's new movie, based on our very own Azeroth. Campbell says he has no idea what Raimi has in mind for the movie, and that he only just heard about the job when we did. But then he says something that will lift all of our geeky hearts: when it comes time for casting, Bruce says, "I'll get a call." And Raimi will say to him, "You play some schmuck. Some idiot guy. Some garbage man."We can't think of too many garbagemen in Azeroth -- Topper Mcnabb, maybe? But the fact that Campbell knows about the movie and is ready to take a role is good enough for us. And he isn't the only person speculating on the part he might play: Chris Metzen brought up Campbell at Comic-Con and suggested he might play a CG-based character, like a goblin. That doesn't sound so awesome to us, though -- you've gotta let that world-famous mug shine through. It does seem a little unlikely that Campbell would play a really huge part, but a lot of people have brought up Varian Wrynn, and we can't really think of any part more fitting (plus, maybe that means the movie will focus on Horde instead of Alliance). Hail to the King, baby!
Keep an eye over on our sister site Massively for more Comic-Con coverage all this weekend, and if we hear any more about the movie, we'll be sure to let you know.

While I would love the idea of the movie being Horde based we have to think realistically here, people can often relate to humans much more than a race they know little to nothing about (Talking about a non-player perspective.) If Blizzard wants any chance of having this movie sell to people other than players of course what I would really like to see is it based on both sides, just all the Warcraft games usually are I just hope that It doesn't turn into a near exact replica of Lord of the Rings.

Bruce Campbell as Elling Trias, Master of Cheese!

I guess it comes down to how greedy Blizz & Lengedary really are. Either way there will be an army of undead ghouls.... I mean light-deprived nerds (myself included) outside the theater opening night for the midnight showing. While I'm sure that 100% of the 12 million + players won't be having nerd-gasms like me as the movie gets closer, there's still a HUGE chunk that will go. THEN you'll have all the people that will go just because they've heard about WoW at one time or another.
I predict one of the highest opening day gross in movie history. As for the follow up income... I'm just hoping they don't FUBAR this movie.

Bruce Campbell sells movie tickets. Blizzard knows this. Raimi knows this. Only reason I admit to having seen Spiderman 3 is because he was in it (and a better antagonist than the others).
I feel strongly he'll be in this movie and because of that, it will be awesome.
As for who he plays? I'm not picky. As long as he IS there he could play himself for all I care.

Is no one else wondering why Mike needs only Bruce Campbell as an excuse to watch Burn Notice? That show is consistently awesome because of Bruce and Jeffrey Donovan combined.

He's grown on me -- I thought he was really annoying when the show started, and I still don't think he's that great an actor. But every time he gets too annoying, they do a Sam Axe scene and then I'm back in.

I was wondering the same thing, that show is amazing, I've met lots of people from all walks of life like devout mormons, a single mother of 4, senior citizens, and bikers who all love this show. My question is, if you don't like an amazing show like this one, what shows do you actually like?

I'm rather hoping that the movie takes place at the time of the Orcish invasion of Lordaeron... so I'd like to see the following cast for the Alliance (which will almost certainly be the focus of the film):
Lothar - David Wenham
Terenas - Bruce Campbell
Khadgar - Michael Gambon
Turalyon - Josh Duhamel
Perenolde - Jeff Bridges
Garona - Gina Torres
Alleria - Emma Watson

I can see Bruce as Wrynn for the movie, and Tim Raimi (still awesome to this day) as umm... to be honest I could care less as long as Tim makes a cameo at some point in the movie.
I'm pretty undecided as who I'd want to see as Jaina.
And I want 2 things from the Warcraft movie:
1. Sam Raimi makes a cameo of some kind.
2. Any reference to Army of Darkness and/or Evil Dead being quoted in the film. =]

I think you mean Ted.
And, comments on the first page notwithstanding, Ted would have to make a cameo as Leeroy.
Because Leeroy is pretty much Azerothian Joxer.

Yeah, I like Shrek and all, but the character is intentionally "safe". It's a kid's movie and (hopefully) The Warcraft Movie will semi-serious. I don't ever recall Shrek screaming "Victory or Death" in any language while riding into battle. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a balanced perspective from the movie, and I hope they do so, but I wouldn't use Shrek as a shining example of mainstream acceptance of monstrous characters in summer blockbusters.
Now if we're talking about Hellboy, that's another story...

For all of you who are just in love with Bruce Campbell, let me tell you something... I have met him. And he is a complete a$$ whole. He came and did a book signing of his biography at book store I worked at in Oklahoma City. By the time the evening was done I was so disgusted and embarrassed by his rude and arrogant behavior that I gave his book that I had autographed as a birthday present for my sister (who is a big fan), back to him. He cussed me out and treated the PR person for the book store who booked authors and events so badly she left crying. She was my friend and I do care how rich or washed-up famous Bruce is he was a jerk for the we he behaved and for upsetting one of my friends like that. We basically kicked him out in the end and let him know, in no uncertain terms, that he would not be welcome back. Not that he would come back anyways, I am sure. I just don't get people who get all googoo gaga over celebrities. They are just people like the rest of us and some of them don't even deserve that title. They are less than people.

I've been to OK City, if I had to be there I would be an a$$ hole too, that place sucks. Bruce Campbell is probably going to be the only thing that could saves this movie from being a huge let down... maybe chuck norris could save it... but no matter how they go about doing the movie, there is going to be something different for everyone that they don't like about the movie. If the producers and everyone else involved are smart they need to fill the cast with so much awesomeness that regardless of the story or possible horrible graphics(dear lord please don't let it look like the new star wars') it will become a cult classic and not some craptacular movie that wow fans think they need to watch simply because they play the game. getting a bunch of character actors that everyone knows and love can really help make this movie be successful in, unfortunately , a way that it probably won't be.
o and did i mention OK sucks, gig' em! WHOOP!

Is he even that big of a star? I mean really?
I'm hoping blizz wises up and doesn't make this movie a cesspool of sci-fi channel actors with a script full of lame alliance humor.
I want this movie to be horde, with just the right touch of violence. 300 comes to mind... but with more blood and thunder!
If this movie is told from the alliance view it's going to fail!
