Dwarf levels solely by exploring, gains World Explorer at level 17
Here's a cute story to brighten up your Sunday. Tenen, a Dwarf Warrior in Modan Co on Moon Guard, decided that he would start at level one and only explore. No quests, no killing mobs, no PvP. Just exploration.
Seventeen levels later, he's explored every single outdoor zone in the game, and completed the World Explorer achievement. So if you wanted to know how much XP you could get just from exploring, there's your answer. It took four days of playtime to accomplish.
Of course, he couldn't do it all on his own; aside from the ravenous mobs, some areas are simply inaccessible without a flying mount. He got some summoning help from a cooperative Warlock. The Charge skill was also apparently useful in getting to some hard-to-reach places.
Congrats to Tenen! It's always nice to see players do something a little different.
[Thanks, Frijona]

I did all of Northrend on a Shaman starting at level 7 and got to 11. You do NOT need to fly or get summoned. You can see in my statistics that I didn't get any help:

Also, I had several times when an ally could have ganked me in Northrend but left me alone. We'll see how nice they are when I start exploring their cities!

No help except for the port to Dalaran, obviously.

I made it to Dalaran without a port. You just need to be willing to die, and have good aim. I think it's Winterspring with the spectral gryphon available when you die. So you get as high as possible, aim for Dalaran, and go. Eventually you hit a no-fly zone and float. You just have to have good aim to not miss the city.

Now that's a fine display of patience and determination.
Kudos, Tenen!!

I actually sort of did this once. I made a human rogue and wanted to play with my friend's night elf but the only boat I knew about was from Booty Bay to Ratchet so I went through Elewynn forest, to the coast in westfall, swam down to Booty Bay, across to Ratchet and then swam ALL the way around the continent including through Azshara to get to menethil harbour and finally meet with my friend. Later I heard about Portals and died a little inside.

Well, this story is personal! I WAS in the Modan Co. ( loved the guys, did not like the RP style). Either way, I remember a month or so back when this was just a little fun thing this bloke was doing. he just was saying in OOC chat, ehh, lets try to have some fun.
All I can say is;
GRATZ MATE!!!!!!

Hopefully he remembered all of his flight points.

This made me happy. My first thought was "did he have the speed enchant on his boots?" Four days played, and all running/corpse running... takes some real patience.

And they don't even get a title.

I find it amazing to look in these guys statistics, to find out they died well over 2000 times, while my main character just broke 1200 deaths.

Awesome

Hang on, I didn't think you could get to Outland or Northrend until 58 or 68?
Mr. Tastix Jul 27th 2009 5:34AM
No, you can go to those areas at any level. You just have to have some help from a Warlock; getting summoned to Shattrath City and Dalaran is possible at any level. Hell, I believe you can go on the boat/zeppelin to Northrend at any level simply because I've seen a level 60 Fishing in the Howling Fjord starting zone for Alliance (though he could have been summoned).
The Dark Portal however, can only be entered at level 58 MINIMUM.
Skarlette Jul 27th 2009 2:24PM
What Mr. T said. Also, I had a level 11 orc hop on a zepplin to Howling Fjord just for fun. Explored quite a bit of the zone while dying repeatedly. ;)

Woot, got Moon Guard!
