WoW Moviewatch: Eternity's End
Eternity's End by Deathmatic is one of those World of Warcraft films that really tests my knowledge of lore. Deathmatic is creating this movie based on the Warcraft III campaign of the same name. This is the first three minutes or so of his movie, and he released it both as a preview and to try and get some feedback about what could be improved.
I was actually kind of surprised to hear Deathmatic describe himself as a newbie, because he's doing one hell of a job so far. The voice acting is great, and the scripting seems pretty strong. (And this is where my own inexperience may play a role, if this voice-acting is actually from the Warcraft III game.)
In terms of pure animation, I think Deathmatic's chosen some pretty good shots. The way he's pacing and framing each character keeps any scene from lingering too long, and he seems to be leaning towards an appropriate flair for the dramatic. Overall, I'd say he's doing good work, and he just needs to keep up the great job.

That was superb. I'd like to see more.

Why don't you go play warcraft 3? The story is amazing.

For reals. It's such a quick play too. How do you even know half of what's happening in WoW without playing it?
That being said. I sort of always envisioned Tyrande going into battle on top of her white tiger. Not sure why the creator of this vid took it out.

snowleopard233: I'm sure the author wanted to have Tyrande mounted, but remember that night elves (especially females) have pretty much no mounted animations. Using animations that are already in the game is trivial, creating new ones is far from it.

GIVE ME MOAR!!!!!!!!!! I WANT TO SEE MOAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways, the movie clip was most definitely good. I haven't played WC3 in a looooong time, but since it's what got me into WoW, it's definitely a favorite of mine. Very well done. Please give us more. :)

The voice acting is great since it is directly from Warcraft III.
The recreated (re-imagined) scenes were very nicely done and I'm interested to see more.

Wasn't In Memory: Retribution supposed to come out in early July? I figured it might of been postponed by a few days or weeks, but now I'm beginning to lose hope.

The author said it would be postponed until mid/end of August.

I LOVED this! I love lore-based machinima in general, and this one is very well done. Please keep us updated when more of this is released! I can't wait.

I think the "Voice Acting" was actually just the sound files from WCIII. For 100% sure.
Badger Jul 27th 2009 9:33PM
Yep. Every bit of spoken dialogue in this clip is taken directly from the 'WC3' sound files.
Calavera Jul 27th 2009 2:59PM
Yes, the voices are directly from the Warcraft 3 sound files, as is the story, this is pretty much what happened in the in-game cut scene (it also stops where the cut scene ends if I remember correctly).
That being said I think the video editing was great, superb for a 'newbie'.

Loved it! I think he is doing a wonderful job. Its nice to see the scenes of Warcraft III done in WoW style, and its a huge plus that he uses the actual character models. I really hope that Deathmatic continues to work on this.

I started playing WoW without having played the first Warcraft games, though I knew of their existence since my boyfriend had them. I was never really the type to enjoy strategy games, hence why I didn't have much interest in playing them.
Anyways, after becoming a WoW addict I realized how much I enjoyed the lore. I've read all of the novels and pretty much went through WoWwiki reading articles. xD Despite that I know I'm missing out on a lot by not having seen the games, so I'm thinking of going ahead and playing the old Warcraft games on godmode just so I can watch the plots unfold without worrying about strategy parts. :)
Awesome video though, I really love lore-driven machinima like these.

The visuals and sound editing were superb. The only thing that I found really jarring and incongruous with the rest of the video was the sudden break into dance/techno music. That, and the headlong charge by Tyrande's Sentinels, which is definitely *not* typical of Night Elf tactics during their 'WC3' campaign.
