Extended server maintenance for Tuesday August 4th

All realms will be down from at least 3:00 a.m. PDT / 6:00 a.m. EDT until 11:00 a.m. PDT / 2:00 p.m. EDT tomorrow. However a large group of special realms will be down from 12:00 a.m. PDT / 3:00 a.m. EDT until 12:00 p.m. PDT / 3:00 p.m. EDT.
Those special realms are those in the battlegroups Emberstorm, and Whirlwind.
Check after the break if you need to see a listing of which realms belong on those battlegroups, and stay tuned to WoW.com tonight and tomorrow for all the patch 3.2 goodness.
Minor update: The service alert, which is obviously suffering from a typo, now reads in part: "..we expect all realms to be playable by approximately 11:59PM PDT on Tuesday, August 4." Emphasis added. Hey, at least they're honest, right?

Get ready for the cries of a million WoW players if the patch doesn't drop tomorrow.
I personally don't think it will but hey we'll see!
Taladan Aug 3rd 2009 9:45PM
It doesn't look like. My server (Dreadmaul) is missing in the list. I'm pretty sure they won't say "Hey! If you are in this server, you'll get the patch first! Gratz to you!" It will be a global thing, not some servers going first...
Kesh Aug 3rd 2009 9:56PM
Dunno where you've been, "global" is the wrong word, the US always gets patches first, a whole 24 hours before the EU does, and the EU get it before Oceanic and asian servers. They don't roll it out all at the same time.
Varlyn Aug 3rd 2009 11:04PM
@kesh Oceanic servers are US servers. It's just the server time that's different.

I was thinking about this today, we know Blizz is planning on checking our CPUs while running WoW sometime in the very near future. I think it will coincide with 3.2 dropping, probably to see how/what we're running in relation to the new BG, Raid and Instance. Therefore, I will go on the limb and say it drops tomorrow....
Taladan Aug 3rd 2009 9:46PM
Not all servers in the list, so pretty much you lost your limb.
Jose Ravelo Aug 3rd 2009 11:15PM
If you read that correctly, the servers on the list have extra long down time, the rest will have extended.
Jaena Vashj Aug 3rd 2009 9:00PM
Why me! Well good thing is im usually in bed until 2pm so I shouldn't be too bothered, surprised me when I heard from someone else that the french say next wednesday is patch day, and all that time I spent devoted to wow.com.
Love the Star Trek TNG reference btw >.
Leviathon Aug 3rd 2009 9:00PM
The normal maintenance window is 5 AM to 11 AM and the 3 AM to 11 AM timeframe is usually for patches and very rarely used as a normal maintenance.
Boozekin Aug 3rd 2009 9:16PM
This hasn't been the case for a long time.
Serneum Aug 3rd 2009 9:09PM
I highly doubt the patch will drop if only specific servers get extended maintenance. Also, the French forums said "mercredi prochain" meaning "Next Wednesday" instead of "Ce mercredi" which means "this Wednesday."
Harhar Aug 3rd 2009 9:15PM
All servers are getting extended maintenance, but some servers and getting extra extended.
Kaeltor Aug 3rd 2009 9:15PM
Yes but you see the French don't use the term "this day" . When they say le mecredi prochain they actually the next Wednesday that comes. That being this week's Wednesday.
Serneum Aug 3rd 2009 10:05PM
No, but my mom is French, as are my grandparents. I asked how to say "This Wednesday" and that's what I was told. And no, it's not French-Canadian, it's French as in my grandparents lived in France for most of their lives...
Hoggersbud Aug 3rd 2009 11:20PM
Why argue over it? Why not ask the authority on the French language?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Académie_française
A ruling from them will dictate Blizzard's actions.
Serneum Aug 3rd 2009 11:32PM
We totally should, but we'll know tomorrow :P
danawhitaker Aug 3rd 2009 9:16PM
I *knew* it. I'm on Hydraxis (Emberstorm battlegroup) and Armory has now not been working for me for almost three days. I just said to someone this afternoon that I'd bet we're on the extended maintenance list this week. Unshocking. Oh well. If they fix this armory crap, I'll be happy.
