Our Melee DPS use Lightwells in our 25-man raids, and it's a big help when people do unintentionally do stupid things and end up hurting themselves. It takes a little bit of a load off of the healers, and besides, light wells can usually be put down before the fight, when a 2 second GCD doesn't matter.

Maybe if no one besides your tank ever takes damage it's useless, but realistically it's a utility spell and it's nice to have when you have more than one priest in a raid.
