Faar, Lightwell is garbage. It doesn't matter if the heals are the best and most mana efficient, if no one uses it then it isn't very mana efficient. It doesn't have to be an issue of losing a second of DPS to click the tiny object next to them, either. If the people around the well don't take damage, then there is no reason to click it. No reason to click means no healing done means wasted mana putting it down. Then there's the HoT component of when someone actually clicks the damn thing. Last I checked (months ago, so correct me if I'm wrong), it doesn't immediately tick when you get the lightwell buff, though it does prevent you from clicking it again repeatedly to conserve charges (which would also prevent you from consuming all charges in one second to go from 1% to 100%). If you've taken damage, chances are someone will cover your loss of health before lightwell ticks; Effective healing done: 0.You more or less have to, as a user, predict when you're going to need the ticks so that you can consume a charge appropriately. The biggest problem with that is that the average player isn't going to predict how much damage they're going to be taking in the next 6 seconds so they can use the charges wisely; Heck, I've seen healers who don't predict incoming damage well. And that's actually another issue with the HoT component: You can't really use it proactively for healing in a number of fights. The "take 30% of your health and lose the buff" part of that makes sure of that.Oh, and it doesn't get out of the fire. The lightwell is stationary. Fight mechanics do not allow players to be stationary. No matter what conditions, there just isn't a good time to use it. Under sub-optimal conditions, it can't be used. Under the best conditions, you don't need to use it. Lightwell is garbage, and it doesn't all stem from the users having to use it. It stems from the overall combination of bad mechanics working together to make it a useless talent. The funny thing is that more priests would take it if only one thing was changed about it; Personally, I'd prefer if it either ticked immediately when you click it, or the "take damage and lose it" component was either reduced or removed. Really, that's all it would take for it to become a spell thats useful outside of one boss fight (Hi, Vezax!).
