The Queue: I don't really know what's happening here
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com's daily Q&A column where the WoW.com team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.
The video I've included in today's edition of The Queue is... something. It is certainly a thing. A thing that is entirely unrelated to WoW. I know the music is produced by Justice, but the video? Well. It's a video. Enjoy?
corwin asked...
"Is anything more going to be done with the Grizzly Hills Venture Bay PVP areas? It seems like it has a lot of potential and isn't paid any attention."
We haven't heard anything about changes to those areas, no. It is pretty weird that they're just sort of... there. They're probably intended to give PvP-centric players something PvPish to do while leveling up, but I don't know if they've really served that purpose or not. That's something Blizzard would need to comment on, and... I'm not Blizzard. Unfortunately.
hergen asked...
"Is there a really knowledgeable go-to blog for Rogues? Kinda like BigRedKitty was for Hunters?"
Most of the Rogues I know just do the ElitistJerks thing. As was mentioned in the comments yesterday, ShadowPanther.net is great for figuring out gear. Forever a Noob updates very frequently with good information, though it may not be as bleeding edge as you want. Or heck, it might be right on. Who knows? It depends on what you're looking for. There's also the general melee blog, Big Hit Box.
There are plenty of Rogue blogs out there (and I probably read most of them for The Daily Quest and such), but I don't know if there are any truly comprehensive ones. You'll probably need to follow multiple blogs (which is pretty easy with Google Reader), or bury your nose in the EJ forums. If you readers have any suggestions for hergen, feel free to link your favorite Rogue blog in the comments below. Please, though, keep the links clean. Don't link to anything we wouldn't link to, please.
whiteshark asked...
"If I use a main hand and an offhand weapon, like fist weapons, will they have the same drawbacks as dual wielding 2 one hand weapons, such as 50% damage, increased miss rate, etc, or will they deal the written amount of damage?"
There is absolutely no difference whatsoever. There are various reasons for labeling things Main Hand only or Off Hand only such as preventing you from dual wielding them, art restrictions, trying to get them into the hands of the intended classes for their intended purpose (Thunderfury), that sort of thing, but there's no real mechanical difference. Dual Wielding, no matter what weapons you're Dual Wielding, have the same penalties which are only augmented via talents. For example, Dual Wield Specialization!
If there were a significant penalty for using One Hand weapons, you would never see people using them unless they were the only weapons available.
Pillowtalk asked...
"Is WoW.com looking for more writers? and if so, how can i get my foot in the door?"
Right now, we're not looking for new writers, no. Our staff is pretty well rounded right now, we'd like to think. If you look at the bar to the right that includes a list of our entire staff, we already have a lot more contributors than you'll find at most blogs.
Whenever we do need to look for more writers to fill gaps somewhere, we usually look to WoW blog-o-sphere for already established writers. As with most jobs, people with experience doing what we need will get a first grab at the position. Luckily, it's easy to get blogging experience, unlike... lawyer experience, or something like that. Start a blog. Head over to Blogspot or set yourself up a simple Wordpress blog, and write. Try to write daily. Be interesting, be informed, and be yourself. When we put out a call for writers (or just plain invite someone to join the team), if you're already an established blogger, your chances of being brought on the team go up dramatically.

For the rogue blog question the site roguerogue.com is great
Crokor Aug 4th 2009 12:12PM
Yeah, roguerogue is good, I also like World of Ming for some arena specs and crap-talking, and One Rogue's Journey is a good read. There's tons of stuff out there.

Now that you can make a character of the opposite faction on pvp servers I want to make a character to camp my friends warrior.
What's the best class against a warrior?
And if I got another friend to help me what's the best duo against a warrior?

My brain hurts from that video...but I'm not quite sure what part hurts.....
Part of me now expects there to be a 34 version of it up by now lurking in some dark corner of the interwebz.
God help whoever found this gem.

Clearly, this video is an advance promo of some sort of calamari glove that enables diabetics to fight intergalactic sugar cravings. Excellent marketing - should go over well on Santraginus V.
Malkavos Aug 3rd 2009 5:14PM
The video reminds me a little of the show "Superjail".

Reader link is broken. There's comma instead of dot.

Quite possibly the worst video I have ever seen on the internet. No dialogue, no plot, made absolutely no sense to the viewer. I give it a 1/10.
So why couldn't I stop watching it?
Aedilhild Aug 3rd 2009 5:46PM
All things according to taste.
It's dada, so plot and purpose are pretty arbitrary — but the basic concepts are straightforward.
A man (green, fez-bedecked alien) whose planet (barren wasteland with sparse ruins) is attacked by an invader (gargantuan space-Sarcophagus) is when outfitted by ministers (another pair of aliens who plug in bio-mechanical arcana) to defeat the invader and use its power to repair the damage it caused (turn cubes into flecks of biomass that cover the ground and statues, growing into flora).
This fare reminds me of late-Seventies sci-fi comic shorts, some of which inspired animated shorts on television shows like Liquid Television in the early Nineties. I enjoy it in small doses.

Honestly, to me this movie runs like the plot of a bunch of different action adventure type games.
Protagonist heads to the far off temple after obtaining the key. Obtains an upgrade to his arsenal. Goes to fight and defeat the final boss who was causing mayhem.
Standard fare really. Fun to watch though. Reminded me off the Matriculation video in the Animatrix.

It was actually quite amazing how they sinc'd up the entire vide with the song. it was crazy and hypnotic and much better if you listen to the music, which is pretty good too.

The video reminds me of René Laloux's "Fantastic Planet," an animated science fiction film from the 1970s. I saw it when I was a kid, and it made a big impression on me. This is much faster paced and more to 21st century tastes, but they share a surreal beauty. I'm off to watch this again.
Scarves Aug 4th 2009 1:44PM
Yes, Fantastic Planet, I thought the same thing after about 10 seconds.
Grudgebearer EU Aug 5th 2009 7:49AM
i actually listen to Justice - Stress when raiding
plzkthx Aug 3rd 2009 5:22PM
It's not a justice song. Birdy Nam Nam is the name of a dj crew from France. They are the artists who created the song. It's just a weirdass music video.
Nizari Aug 3rd 2009 5:50PM
Parts of it do sound an awful lot like Justice though. They probably sampled something from Justice in making the track.
gbpacker Aug 3rd 2009 5:28PM
That blue guy should have a character class based off of him. It would be so cool! LOL
epsilon343 Aug 3rd 2009 5:30PM
I think that video is a fine example of when people try and be artsy and cool, and just blow past that enter the realm of just plain stupid.
