UPDATE: European extended weekly maintenance: 5th August 2009

So tomorrow's maintenance is going to be the extended variety (for obvious reasons). Blizzard have announced all the realms here in Europa will be offline between 3:00am and 11:00am CEST. After that, if the gaming gods are willing, we should be able to go explore all the new content and start counting the days till patch 3.3. Personally I'm going to be scrutinizing my new-look Druid forms and, if needed, visiting the barber for a haircut. Don't forget to check out our comprehensive Call of the Crusade guide and the official patch notes while you're waiting.
Update: Given all the US issues yesterday, it's really no surprise that Blizzard is taking a little longer with our maintenance. They've now announced all realms will be offline until 3:00pm CEST.

11 AM.... yeah.... sure.... *cough*.... I'll believe it when I see it.

Are you an Alliance Druid or a Horde Druid? This is an important question, because I have to start making a list of emo kitties to /laugh at in my sweet new Tauren bear form.

Pride in one's faction's appearance hardly denotes age.
Agerath Aug 4th 2009 2:20PM
@Lukeyo:
Pride in your virtual affiliation most certainly does suggest immaturity.
Orrine Aug 5th 2009 7:44AM
Well, someone of age would say that he likes tauren cat forms more then NE ones, not "all who have different looks are loozers"
Lukeyo Aug 5th 2009 8:25PM
WELL UR A BIG LOOZER I HATE U
It was a joke, this article is about European extended maintenance. I'm not even sure the author plays on one of these realms, but I do not. For me to have been anything other than joking I would have to know this information, as well as have a Tauren druid on said server past level 20, capable of finding said author (mage port, lock summon).
Also, you've got to admit that the Night Elf cat forms look pretty ridiculous, regardless of what faction you play, or your irrelevant age. Pretty. Ridiculous.

I don't. Or I haven't noticed.

"Blizzard have announced all the realms here in Europa will be offline between 3:00am and 11:00am CEST."
In the breaking news section of the login screen, it's telling me it'll be until 3:00pm CEST.

Coming up to 3:30 UK time 4:30 CEST .. cannot get past the retrieving character page before being ejected from the routine. Also cannot reach the Europe WOW Website.

Nice job on updating this post ^^

Roffles, good job on updating? This site's so crap at covering anything outside the US (well, maybe except china - not that I expect many visitors come here from there) that it's difficult to imagine how they could possibly achieve a LOWER standard.
Many Euro realms are still offline at 6PM CET and according to Blizzard's latest update not expected to be back up for another 35 minutes AT BEST, including some that were offline for 14 fragging hours just two weeks ago and another 14 hours the week before that (Earthen Ring, I'm looking at you)
Do you hear a single word mentioned about that on this site? No. Yet if some people with battle.net logins in Ratwater, TX experience login difficulties for 5 minutes it's plastered all over the front page in big headlines.
But us euros are expected to endure at least 44 hours of downtime on their realms in a single month with no compensation... Yay for us.
Xylin Aug 5th 2009 12:28PM
Im not sure how the website would be able to address our euro frustrations regarding the super-huge-over-extended maintenance. Agreed, some update would be cool, but if Blizzard doesnt point out whats the heck is the problem i doubt these guys could do anything more than saying "Ooops, euro zone is still in the dark". And i suppose thats no different from the wow login screen.
Faar Aug 5th 2009 2:22PM
While this site would be unable to ADDRESS realm downtimes and such, at least they could REPORT about it, it being news and all - since this is a WoW news site, you know...
Also, Blizzard themselves reads this site. They sure could use getting some publicity over their lax realm maintenance lately. There's absolutely no reason earthen ring players (and those of a whole bunch of other realms) should have to wait until almost 8PM to be able to play their characters again, when there's already been 28 hours of scheduled AND non-scheduled maintenance on these realms this past 30 day period.

I'm actually unable to clear past the login screen, despite the fact that my server is listed as up (and is not included in the extended extended maintenance). Are other people experiencing this, or is it an issue on my end?
Xylin Aug 5th 2009 12:41PM
I am stuck at the same thing. And Dragonblight isnt listed either.
DurkonKell Aug 5th 2009 12:52PM
As of just now, I'm able to log in. If your server is up but you were unable to get in before give it a try now, hopefully this authentication issue at least is fixed.
