Sounds like they are copying Aion.

Aion allows you to have toons from either faction on the same server.

I think this has more to do with Aion and less to do with their faction change service.

Except... WoW has always allowed you to have toons from either faction on the same server on PvE and RP realms. This is just new for PvP realms.

I think this has absolutely nothing to do with Aion and everything to do with their faction change service.
