Something caught my attention:

"...old Emblems are being upgraded to help people "catch up" to the current content."

Does this mean all our Emblems of Heroism and Valor are going to be automatically converted to Emblems of Conquest in our Currency Tabs?

I have over 200 Emblems of Valor and I have absolutely nothing to spend them on. I already bought the BoA stuff too for my alts. I'd LOVE to be able to get newer gear with them now.

Trade them down to hero badges and buy raw epic gems.

No, all your current Emblems will stay exactly the same. Only now, any dungeon which drops Emblems of Heroism / Valor will now drop Emblems of Conquest. Your current Emblems will not be affected at all, and now, the achievements for looting Emblems of Heroism / Valor will now become Feats of Strength, as it is now impossible to loot them.
