The Queue: Crazy delicious gets my vote

Today's edition of The Queue is somewhat short, as there weren't a ton of questions in the last edition. I think everyone was too busy boggling at the video I linked. Whoops! Also, here is a random poll.

Allen Ibrahim asked...
"Seeing as Blizzard has been implementing popular addons into the actual game, when do you think we'll see DBM or even Omen in-game? Do you think they will just save them for the next-gen MMO instead?"
Blizzard has already implemented elements of these. Regarding Omen, you get alerts around your unitframe when you're about to pull aggro. You get a yellow aura, and then it turns red when you actually pull threat. I think that's as far as Blizzard wants to go for having default threat meters. I somewhat suspect they don't want to put a chart or graph in front of all of their players with exact threat values and percentages. As much as raiders like Omen, that's not something Blizzard would put right in front of players. Leave it up to the mod authors.
There are also a lot of attacks that Blizzard broadcasts nowadays. No, they don't have the full DBM/BigWigs functionality... but I don't think a game company would ever give that to you either, the same as Omen. I think they've gone far enough with many bosses putting big bold yellow letters on your screen telling you what's about to happen. Have you done the new Coliseum 5-man instance? Eadric the Pure pretty much tells you exactly what to do and when to do it. Other than that, I think the stuff should stay to mods, and Blizzard probably feels the same.
saerb asked...
"Do movement impairing affects also affect attack speed?"
The base mechanic? No. But there are select spells that do. If they do, their tooltip will specify.
Joseph asked...
"Are there any reliable Paladin blogs left?"
Depending on your spec? Sure. I'm going to do here what I did for the Rogue blogs: List your favorite Paladin blogs in the comments, folks! Personally, I'm Prot at heart, so I pay more attention to Righteous Defense and Honor's Code. I read a ton of Paladin blogs on a daily basis, but those two are my favorites at the moment.
Davo asked...
"I've never played Warcraft III. Not even once. I was reading a bit about it on Wowwiki the other day and it seemed bursting with WoW-relevant lore. How much lore is going over the top of my head in WoW because of my dreadful RTS skillz?"
Quite a bit. Don't worry though, I suck at RTS games as well, and you can just do what I did. Use cheat codes. When you're in a level, hit enter, type "whosyourdaddy" and then hit enter again. Congratulations, you now have god mode and can experience the full story without worrying about getting shivved.
Slaytanic asked...
"With the 3.2 changes to resilience (covering all damage), do you think we might start seeing it being used as a possible tanking stat?"
No. Resilience only affects damage from players.
Abbadon asked...
"Sooo... Did they take out the Get Kraken daily?"
No. Get Kraken! rotates with one or two other dailies, so you won't get it every day. You probably got something else in its place.

Go for Rep gear. You can find pretty good blues (and some epics) from rep with the Argent Crusade, Ebon Blade, Wyrmrest Accord, Kirin Tor and Sons of Hodir. I'd recommend doing some normal dungeons and championing either Wyrmrest or the Kirin Tor - the other two have a fair amount of dailies.

Rep geared is great, as the previous comment suggested. Also be sure to check what craftable epics you can get (tailors, jewelcrafters, etc), which are generally easy to attain with a bit of gold.

In addition to the above suggestions, try these dungeons on normal mode: Halls of Lightning, The Occulus, Caverns of Time: Culling of Stratholme, Utgarde Pinnacle, Trial of the Champion. Those are considered appropriate for fresh level 80s, pre-heroics. You won't get purples, but there are some decent blue items in those that should be fine for heroics and Tier 7 content. You can also earn rep through faction championing in these dungeons, so you can work toward those epics as well.

Don't forgot the gear from the Argent Tournament. There is some NICE stuff there if you guys are in blues and greens.

Some craftables are good too. The Blacksmithing helm, boots and 2-hander are good (especially for a DK tank). The Hat of Wintry Doom (tailoring) is awesome for dps clothies as is the Deathchill Cloak (tailoring as well). For healers, the Blacksmithing one-hander is pretty decent and the Wispcloak(tailoring) is pretty good. Of course, tailoring also offers robes and gloves for dps casters and healers but their worth is somewhat suspect at best. Basically, just check out www.thottbot.com, www.wowhead.com, www.tankspot.com or www.elitistjerks.com for better ideas as to Instance gear.

Also, make sure your newly-Prot-specced Warrior has 535 Defense or can hit it with food buff, unless you enjoy extra challenge as the healer. This is pretty easy to get with Tempered Saronite gear, quest/drop blues, and the defense enchants.

^ Food should be Elixir as in Mighty Defense.
I was thinking of those Fire Festival temporary foods.

At least he waited until AFTER lunch to post that picture. I preferred the 8 ball.

You prefer balls, eh? ;)

OK, this joke only makes sense when taken together with the "sardines=can of bajingos" comment on like 5 page.
Dammit. I stink.

Shameless plug, but I started a Prot Paladin blog very recently, and I'm working on a new post about 3.2 as we speak.

Actually have a question that Blizz has not answered..maybe even before the next queue someone at wow.com could get and answer from them and address this.
Yesterday Blizz flagged( on real status at login) winterhoof.us as New Players.
Now we have been getting flooded with players thinking it's a new realm. In the last 24 hours i have seen at least 50 posts of "Are there any 80's here yet?".
We've also been hit by a ton more gold spammers and griefers due to this.
We've been around since I believe January of this year, We already have a medium population and some of the raiding guilds are very well established with full compliments of 80's having done Ulduar.
When there a ton of low population servers, Why did Blizz flag us as New Players like its brand new realm?

I somewhat suspect they don't want to put a chart or graph in front of all of their players with exact threat values and percentages.
There is an option to show aggro percentage, it puts a percentage over the mob and once it hits 100% you'll pull the mob. While not as good as Omen, it still does the job of telling you exactly where you stand with threat.

"Use cheat codes. When you're in a level, hit enter, type "whosyourdady" and then hit enter again."
It's "Whosyourdaddy", not "Whosyourdady". Two D's.

Any speculation on playable Murloc race in the next expansion? It could fit with the water theme! =D would the lore point to Murlocs having a better shot at joining the Horde or the Alliance?
Adgamorix Aug 5th 2009 6:08PM
I have (what I think to be) a fairly decent Paladin blog.

Anchovies on pizza are very tasty IF (and that's a BIG "if") they are the right kind of anchovies and the person making the pizza knows what they are doing. It's imperative that the anchovies are THOROUGHLY RINSED in cold water before using. Straight out of the can, anchovies have WAY too much salt on them and are nearly inedible, in my opinion.

The one time I had anchovies on pizza I figured I might has well have just dumped salt all over it to get the same effect, but I hadn't thought of washing them off. That might be worth a try.
