Maintenance for Thursday August 6th
According to the in-game announcement, there will be two hours of maintenance tomorrow August 6th on all realms. The maintenance announcement has changed throughout the evening, but seems to have settled on this downtime. The downtime will happen from 5:00 a.m. PDT / 8:00 a.m. EDT and last until 7:00 a.m. PDT / 10:00 a.m. EDT. This of course assumes that there'll be no extended super-fracken-duper maintenance put on top of that. And we know just how much Blizzard loves to increase their maintenance periods. If there is you'll hear it here.
While the maintenance is going on, you can check out WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.2 and read up on all the things you missed, or think you missed. There is also the beginnings of a list of bug fixes; a list that's sure to grow over the coming days.

Damn right we should be used to it. It's been this way since the beginning. The blues are doing the best they can.
As for those kids out there who think they know how to tell Blizzard how to do things better, you geniuses really need to tell us what MMORPG you've been playing that does things exactly the way you like, and that supposedly does a better job then Blizzard.
Sorry kids, but this is the best it gets. No need to go asking for your money back.

Well, i doubt they "love to". especially since a smooth-running game means much less work for them, and QQing *to* them. XD

TL;DR, "People complain cause they don't wanna play" or something like that?
Not what i said. Normally, with any other SMALLER patch or change, they test for much much longer...whereas, this one, which changed a bit and threw another instance at us, wasn't ran in testing very long...why?
Thats my question...common human nature for people to be curious and i am asking a simple, golden question...'Why'...
Nothing else bad is said, just questioning the reason for the patch to be thrown out and fix the issues later...

of course additional fullblown maintenance vs introducing a hotfix could imply that what needs to be fixed is related to databases and how things are running on their server farms, something another month on a testrealm would seemingly not have uncovered either

actually, my op reply was supposed to be a reply to the first comment posted.

Dear Blizzard...
Please save my 36 points in pet's talents! Please! I quite like it....
PS: But I can sacrifice this feature if you will fix Surv-BM spec switch bug with pet's talents reset.

I apologize in advance, but this comment has nothing to do with the post, feel free to delete it after editors read it, I post here because this is the latest post I found ;)
On the right side you have Upcoming Events widget (or w/e you call) that I use often, but it's currently inaccurate.
It says this weekend is AB weekend but it's actually IoC weekend. I'm pretty excited about this weekend, and I'm sure many will be, update the widget so no one misses it :)

OT, Seems Blizz also missed the paid character transfer update. :) You still cannot transfer chars to a PvP realm if you have an opposite faction char there... :(

completly out of the subject but nobody at wow.com noticed this new gun in the game ?
the BRK-1000 ( sounds familiar no ? )
"Smells faintly of raspberries."

Well I was on until 8pm and never saw an announcement got up at 5 am and there it was. Oh well, off to work on my server. I wonder though, every time a "redo" like this comes out so do the fanboi's. So does Blizzard play the same game as microsoft, having people troll the boards to squash any complaints? I always compare WoW to my car, I love them both but when I go out to my garage and my car shuts down unexpectedly for 2 hours I get upset. For the life of me I cannot understand why so many people are in line to beat down anybody complaining about WoW. Its the best game out there, with well below average, IMO, service. Flame on Fanbois!, LOL

"..there'll be no extended super-fracken-duper maintenance put on top of that."
Adam, I will say this about your use of a non-profanity synonym in your article: Nicely put. No sarcasm at all, genuinely the best way to describe what has been a very "super-fracken-duper" of a patch launch. I applaud you good sir.
As for the maintenance, I really really hope they fix the "You are in restricted flight zone and your mount will be dismissed.." because it is Super-Fracken-Duper annoying.

I have no problems with this maintenance. It's certainly been a bit of a challenge playing and somethings just can't be hotfixed I'm certain. That being said, I really am hopeful that the biggest fix is something related to the avg 3-5fps rate I get in Dalalag. No offesnse to the Blizz Deve team but it really is the worst it has ever been. I'm sure that its because many people are returning to play in the patch but it's almost getting to the point of insanity. I literally said screw it last night and logged in frustration.

Everyone and their alts are zipping to Dal for the new Orphan Matron. Since Tuesday the number of AFK characters in Dal at peak times of the day on my server has quadrupled, and most are sporting Oracle and Wolvar pets as well which adds to lag. How I wish the AFK auto logout time would be shortened in high population areas.

I am a teacher that was addicted to this game by his students. After two years of mocking them openly (but good-naturedly) I finally started playing. Having summer break to really play the character I have and like, i am really really disappointed with the down time. My realm was down a lot a couple weeks ago and every Tuesday and now today. Why can't they schedule maintenance for earlier in the day. It seems like their idea of a good time is the beginning or majority of good time in East Coast. I think if they are going to do maintenance they should do it earlier. I realize they are probably a West coast comapny, bring the maintenance people in early. or stay late. They get 15 bucks per person for 11 million subscribers pay a lil overtime. Im sure this has been addressed before
Kylenne Aug 6th 2009 10:32AM
You seriously underestimate the sheer amount of people playing this game. No matter when Blizzard schedules maintenance someone is going to whine about it, whether it's you, or people who work afternoon shifts, or the countless numbers of Australian players on American servers, for whom maintenance happens to fall during their primetime hours.
Suck it up and deal. A few hours once a week without WoW is not going to end your life.
Paul Aug 6th 2009 8:44AM
Btw, cake is a lie. I was able to login in soon after server shutdown. However, I do understand that playing within this two hour maintenance window will carry risk of unexpected disconnection and anything I do might be reverted when the window collapses.
Ennaedwyn Aug 6th 2009 9:09AM
Same old, same old. New patch = new bugs = LOADS of maintenance. Life goes on. We must just be patient.

My hunter had his talents reset and my pets too...

For anyone on ATI video cards, if your shadows are flickering here is the fix for it.
In your chat window, simply type the following line /console shadowinstancing 0 . Blizz says that it may be fixed in a future driver update.
