Crusader's Coliseum tribute rewards are ilvl 272
Patch 3.2 brought with it three new tiers of gear, corresponding to the various difficulty settings available for the Trial of the Crusader raid. The items coming out of the 25-man heroic version, at item level 258, are leaps and bounds above what was available in Ulduar -- and if you thought that those were pretty good, you're in for an even bigger surprise if you manage to complete the dungeon's tribute run.
Boubouille, head of the Data Miners' Guild and captain of the starship MMO-Champion, pulled the full list of loot available in the raid from the official Armory site. Players who accomplish the feat of completing the full heroic 25-man dungeon without wiping once will receive a chest with one of several ilvl 272 cloaks in it.
At ilvl 272, these cloaks are the best items in the game. Even ignoring their item level, they're extremely well-itemized, and offer something for even some oft-ignored specs ... even Elemental Shamans, thank God. And with the next-highest item level being 258, the cloaks are a full tier above the heroic 25-man's gear. To put that into perspective, moving from 10-man Ulduar to 25-man Ulduar is only a jump of 6 item levels.
This also means that, if dungeon difficulties and item levels continue to progress in the same way they have been for the previous two content patches and no half-tier steps occur, we could be seeing the following approximate item levels in the Icecrown Citadel raid:
Normal 10-Man: 258
Heroic 10-Man/Normal 25-Man: 272
Heroic 25-Man: 285, with probable level 298 super-rewards.
Though Patch 3.3 is supposed to be WOTLK's last content patch, if it's not, we could see item levels bust 300 in this expansion. Crazy!

"Good for healers too"...
WRONG.. Theres no healer in the game anymore that should be itemizing like that.
Perhaps the old holy pally, not anymore with the 60 to 30 nerf on mana return via crit, compounded by the ever increasing value of mp5, both int and crit are of lesser value to a pally than they previously were.
That is a Caster dps cloak, and even more so, build extremely well for casters who dont particularly favor spirit, like an ele sham or a mage who was maybe forced into spirit due to lazy itemization.

Sorry Knyle, there are more than Holy Paladins keeping people alive. Resto Shamans' mana-return-from-crit talent was buffed significantly in 3.2, and Int is still a superior regen talent to mp5, despite the fact that they are now closer with the patch. That is indeed a very nice cloak for at least one healing spec still.

Relax, kids, there are many different cloaks available for this reward, all tailored to different stat needs.

Ah, the good ol' double standard of healers vs. caster dps. That is indeed, an excellent cloak for anyone who values Spellpower. But let's look at a hypothetical situation: that cloak drops, and a Priest wins the roll for it. Next week, a cloak similar to that one drops, but it has spirit. The Elemental Shaman says: well that's no good; spirit is useless for me. The Priest from last week says: that's not a bad cloak, but I already got this shiny one from last week. Cloak get's DE'd. GG
I realize that this is an overly simplified example, but you see my point.

Zach: Nah, a mage or boomkin will pick that up next. I doubt that will get DEd for a while

In my opinion, these loot rules trump almost everything else:
All types of healers get loot priority on MP5
DPS plate wearers get loot priority on strength
Non-caster, non-plate wearers get loot priority on agility
Warrior and paladin tanks get priority on block rating and block value
Cloth and leather casters get priority on spirit (not just healers)
Everyone except tanks gets priority on crit rating and haste
And captain obvious says:
Everyone except healers get loot priority on hit rating
Physical DPS get loot priority on attack power
Tanks get priority on defense, dodge, and parry
Casters get priority on spell power
It's unfortunate that shamans and healadins can't use spirit. That gives them a smaller share of useful rings, amulets, cloaks and weapons than any other class, which sucks (at least for paladins, a larger amount of plate healer gear makes up for it, shammies are not so lucky). However, items that have only generic stats like spell power, crit and haste have to be shared equally by all casters; shamans and healadins cannot have priority on them because half of all caster drops fit into that category and shamans and healadins are far less than half of all casters. It would be trading out one injustice for an even greater injustice.

Just *had* to throw that snarky comment in at the end there didn't ya?

I'm glad to see that you find happiness from better purple pixels.

Good to know it will be that much easier for you to kill other players based on item level alone. How good that must make you feel that you have earned the right to be twice as powerful than other players because you spend every waking moment of your life in Azeroth. The next time your mom brings milk and cookies down to the basement for you while you're raiding for the 11th straight hour, tell her I said hi.
Bob Dewane Aug 7th 2009 12:29PM
@D-troll
Come on man, be fair. The mothers of the relentless raiders DO NOT bring them milk and cookies. They bring them Hot Pockets! And bedpans! At least that's what I learned watching South Park. =P

"Even ignoring their item level, they're extremely well-itemized, and offer something for every spec"
I don't know about the other plate dps, but hit and crit over ArP/Crit?... Yea... while the cloak has a lot of str, I don't need anymore damn hit... and definitely don't want to give up ArP for it.
Sedirex Aug 7th 2009 12:59PM
And parry on the tanking cloak. Thanks for fucking over druids again, blizz.
TwinHits Aug 7th 2009 5:05PM
Every spec has a cloak where all the stats are useful to them in some way.
Except tank druids.
Damn it, parry.

I've noticed an absence of BoE gear in the 230-250 range (ulduar stuff) -- and I think it's because there's a real economy growing for people to buy it with cash. Making it easier to get higher level gear like this, but still rewarding elite players (with BoP gear like this) is a good idea to help keep the external economy at bay.
