That's not bad journalism.
It's protecting anonymity.
And by the by, I'm not seeing where on MMO Champion they've confirmed anything with hard, named sources either.

Worgen Rogue! What could be more frightening than getting ganked by one of thoses? I am very excited about this announcement.
Just a little info on why Alliance would get Worgen and the Horde get Goblins:
Goblins served the Horde pretty much exclusively before the Third War. Even in today's Azeroth they still favor the Horde, giving them use of their zeppelins. The Goblins that are joining the back up with the Horde are more than likely only a minority amongst the Goblin race (probably under a Trade Prince) and the majority of the race will still remain neutral, lore-wise.
The Worgen allying themselves to the Alliance are more than likely the transformed nation of Gilneas, once one of the seven bastions of Human power. Their ruler, Lord Genn Greymane, pulled their support of the Alliance after the Second War because he refused to spend his nation's resources on keeping the orcs alive in internment camps. He shut his nation off from the rest of the world, and no one has seen the Gilneans in over 10 years. Since then a Worgen infestation has taken place just outside of the Greymane Wall, and it is fairly safe to assume that if one of these beasts ever got loose in the isolated nation, they could easily turn it's majority.
Much of this is still unconfirmed, but the pieces of the puzzle fit together well, albeit with a few missing pieces. We will all find out more about this later this month, I'm sure.

"What could be more frightening than getting ganked by one of thoses?"
Goblin racial passive - suicide bomber - enemies within 15yds take [scalable to 100000] fire damage when the goblin dies.
Gank this.

First Ozzy at Blizzcon, now a Worgen race. There will definitely be some "Bark at the Moon" action going on at Blizzcon this year.

Nothing like popping my Frenzyheart Brew and ganking lowbies attacking Honor Hold...
WTB Race change option to go with the new races!

To Durane:
The worgen in Gilnea would more than likely be experiments by Arugal.
The worgen that the Alliance would get is probably the same type that promised to help the Night Elves fight common foes and were summoned by the Scythe of Elune, which makes sense from lore perspective.

Goblin rogue engineer named Greenrambo for me. Littlerambo was taken. :(
Marolas Aug 10th 2009 3:54PM
Now Alliance engineers must switch to Gnomish Engineering or be considered a traitor? Great...
Ramdomize Aug 10th 2009 4:04PM
I wonder what will be the classes for each race?
In my opinion, both will have warlocks, rogues, hunters, death knights, and warriors. I think worgen will have priests and possibly paladins, and goblins will have mages. I'm not sure though, i do think worgen will probably have the same classes as humans, especially if these worgen are transformed humans. Except having hunters because they seem to make sense on a worgen, i dont know why.
nobbie Aug 10th 2009 4:34PM
Hobgoblin warrior with a special berserker racial ftw! ;)
Boz Aug 10th 2009 4:37PM
There is a lot of speculation here about magic-using Goblins and Worgen, but I cannot think of many examples to substantiate this. I picture more physical classes or mana-using physical classes; namely warriors, hunters, rogues, and death knights. Arugal was a mage, but human rather than Worgen. Goblin or Worgen healers? That'd be like Gnome Medics!
Should be exciting to see how it pans out.

@Glenn
The Blood Elves were not "denied" into the Alliance because of their addiction. They left the Alliance after Grand Marshal Garithos exhibited extreme prejudice toward their race and they were forced into a temporary alliance with the Naga. This was only by those that followed Kael'thas. There are still High Elves who did not follow that path and are faithful to the Alliance, one such faction being the Silver Covenant.
As for the Forsaken, the only reason they allied themselves with the Horde (lore-wise) is because they view them as pawns and as a means to an end. Forsaken however do view the human race as their mortal enemies and believe that they should all be made undead, but, then again, they believe that about all races.
Their would be no need for any major retconning (there is bound to be some anyway) to fit the Worgen into the Alliance. The Alliance has reached a point where they need all the allies they can muster, seeing as King Wrynn has declared open war on the Horde. The King has already welcomed the Death Knights back into their ranks. Also, if the Worgen are the nation of Gilneas, they already are somewhat part of the Alliance. Brann Bronzebeard believes that Gilneas is under siege by Naga, and, after over 10 years of isolation from the world, the mighty Lord Genn Greymane may have decided to call on some old buddies to assist his people in driving the Naga back.

@Lou
Where would those Worgen start? Why would they be inclined to join the Alliance? What would their relevance to the expansion be?
These questions are what makes Gilneas the most likely candidate for the Alliance Worgen race. If we are heading to the Maelstrom, Gilneas is adjacent to the sea already. They also have a pre-existing relationship with the Alliance, and the have a homeland. The homeland of the Worgen summoned by the Scythe of Elune are from another world.

Lore-wise, here are some possible class options for each race:
Worgen: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Warlock, Shaman, and Death Knight. Priests are also a possible option, although it is unlikely, as are Mages. If the playable Worgen are Gilneans then they were once human, and may have retained many of their prior abilities, making even Worgen Paladins a possibility, even if it is a stretch.
Goblins: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Warlock, Mage, and Death Knight. I seriously doubt they would get a healing class as there is not one that would make sense. Blizzard could find a way to pull this off if they wanted to though, I am sure.

Worgen Druids! (And when they shapeshift they can just turn into regular people!)
