WoW Moviewatch: Shining Dreamscape
You may recall Snoman as the chap who did WotLK White Dreamscape. Snoman didn't feel like other preview videos had done justice to the landscape in Wrath of the Lich King, so he created White Dreamscape to give it a much better showcase. Now, Snoman has just released the new video in his Dreamscape series, in which he takes the modelling of Azeroth, and creates something new and interesting.
This video was absolutely gorgeous. It's filled with brilliant and breathtaking views. The technical aspects of Snoman's work are leaps and bounds above much machinima, and every angle and scene shows off his incredible eye for detail. I'm usually hesitant to use words like "gorgeous," but I can think of few videos that deserve it as much as Shining Dreamscape.

Visually nice - makes me wish there was actually some point to Crystalsong Forest. :(

What song is that?

Excuse me? This is all you could come up with, commenters? We're talking about one of the masters here, and I've been looking forward to the 5th Dreamscape for ages. Stunning visuals, I -loved- the flashback to the ending scene of Dreamscape 3(It still makes my heart sink, poor priestess. D; ) and I see you've mastered rendering aswell. Very nice to see the zones, but a tad disappointed you took Duskwood, Westfall(Love Remembering Westwood) and Elwynn again. If you read this and plan on remaking a zone, -please- work on Tirisfal, Western or Eastern Plaguelands. I know you commented on the Lordaeron remake. ;-)
Love and many hugs to Snobaste/Snoman.

Mostly, I'm wondering how in the WORLD he did this. Last I checked, zones like that... didn't EXIST in the game.

He takes models that exist in-game, and switches them for models in other areas. For instance, in this video he took molten core and added a bunch of palm trees, and changed the values for the colors used on the creatures and terrain and turned everything from red to green. Snoman has done this with a ton of zones. I recommend checking out White Dreamscape and his other videos too. It's a shame private servers are illegal - I'd love to play on a server with a custom client and database that would allow for modified zones/creatures etc. the way Snoman has done them. This kind of art is something that companies like Blizzard should really try to take advantage of.

Always like these texture swaps and what not. They always seem to use J-pop though, makes my skin crawl, lol.

Absolutely beautiful. Too bad the music was so awful I had to mute it

I was mesmerized by this video and would love to play in these zones, if they existed. Real, true fantasy...or just a total trip. Now I'll go watch the previous videos done by Snoman.
I had to mute the music, though ~ it didn't fit in at all with the dreamy quality of the visuals. Sometimes this style works ("Blind," for instance); this time, it did not.

looks like some serious LSD trip
