Not cool man, not cool. The only time I have a guaranteed drop is when spell plate drops. Why ruin it? Same arguement could be made against daggers with spell power on them. Limited usage by limited classes.

spell power daggers - shamans/druids/warlocks/magesspell power plates - paladinsyou don't get guaranteed drop anymore? QQ welcome to every other class in the game. roll on mail.
Though I don't think this would be the best solution, I'd have to say it would have Holy pallies joining the boat on gear drops. As a Priest I compete with all other clothies (as everyone has 'something' to get from spirit or a little mp5) as well as 'gear deprived' druids, shaman, and pallies according to spec and awfulness of gear.Normalization of gear means more people find usable gear but have more competition for it.

priests as well

The same cannot be said of spellpower daggers. Mages, Shamans, Priests, and Warlocks can all use spellpower daggers.

Lol spell power daggers can be used by multiple classes whereas spell power plate can only be used by 1 class and 1 spec. That argument is ridiculous and unintelligent. Why should you have items that you will always get when the rest of us have to roll on gear and pray for a good roll.
Reducing the amount of loot each boss drops will increase the amount of loot you actually get. The only other "unique" drop is the healing mail for shamans. Either Paladins start using those or spellpower plate gets removed. Mergin healing mail with DPS mail could also help with the loot table clutering.

There is no reason to remove loot table clutter. Just make how bosses drop loot smarter. I don't mean that bosses should never drop something useless to the party, but that by switching to a system where the drop probabilities are weighed by party makeup, you can decrease the only PvE "problem" with spellpower plate: that it wasn't the piece of loot you wanted. That is what i see here a lot: resentment that people can't use spellpower plate, and that boss's drop was "wasted." Why remove an entire gear type because of whining, when adding simple weight functions to a random drop method is a lot more elegant of a solution.
