Tuesday Morning Post: Have I got a leak for you Edition
Happy Tuesday morning, everyone! By now, I'm sure you've heard the biggest news of the past few days: That's right, we're putting our hat in the ring for the new races. They're coming in Cataclysm, folks. Now, I've already gushed before that I am pretty excited about one of them, but I have to admit, I've been sort of intrigued by the other lately, too. It would be pretty fun to roll up a Priest of Janeiro and have some fun with a Ferengi-like religion of greed that believes that he with the most toys is blessed by Heaven and that not only can you take it with you, you'd better take it with you so that you can bribe your way into a better afterlife.
But anyway, leaks aside, there's plenty of other news to read up on this morning during the 5 AM to 11 AM Pacific downtime. Patch 3.2's been out for a week, and if you haven't been able to keep abreast of all the changes, you'll probably want to take a peek at a few of our guides.
Check out those and more stories below:

Um, what happened to not spoiling it?
You went to all the effort to hide it in the original leak post, and then you just blew it in this one.
Bryterside Aug 11th 2009 7:11AM
Quit crying Tom. If you don't want to know stuff go look at notwow.com or wowoutsider, com
Bryterside Aug 11th 2009 7:15AM
Did you even read the title?
jtrain Aug 11th 2009 7:56AM
Tom has a point. Not that I really care one way or the other, but if you're going to go through all the trouble to avoid spoilers for people in a previous post, this one doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Keiji Aug 11th 2009 8:01AM
Tom makes a good point. If the one author is going to set a non-spoiler precedent, the other authors should follow suit.
Although in this case it's obvious the only reason they originally hid the news behind the break was to generate more money through ad revenue by making everyone click through another page.
There's nothing wrong with trying to make extra money, just don't use the excuse of hiding spoilers when obviously you don't care about spoiling things for those who don't want to know.
Boz Aug 11th 2009 9:57AM
Actually, both Tom and Bryterside have a point.
Adam Holisky did state in the original leak post, "...all major leaks and spoilers will be happening after the break." And yet, right there at the top of the page is the title, "Cataclysm races leaked." That new races are coming at all is a spoiler in itself.
That being said, the site is WoW Insider; those looking to avoid spoilers are better off sticking to official Blizzard sites. Who can blame the Insider staff for getting excited?
Now then, what's the new profession going to be?
Swiss Aug 11th 2009 10:23AM
Even if they had contained the spoilder behind a link you had to intentionally click, you would still see tons of people talking about it in-game today or whenever. Trade channel on my realm was chock-full of people discussing it.
Honestly it's not that big of a deal.
Tom Aug 11th 2009 10:34AM
Hey whoa, I'm not whining. I read the leak post and frankly wouldn't consider anything in Wow a spoiler because I'd rather know than not.
I just thought I'd point out the inconsistency so it wasn't spoiled for people who didn't want to know.
Bryterside Aug 11th 2009 7:10AM
Thanks guy's for keeping it awesome!
Dreamstorm Aug 11th 2009 7:27AM
"[...] we're putting our hat in the ring for Goblins and Worgen They're coming in Cataclysm[...]"
I thought the new race would be WOLVAR, not WORGEN... (quite the difference).
Worgen as Alliance race? Very fake if you'd ask me, though Wolvar is a reasonable option.
RetadinMan Aug 11th 2009 7:31AM
It has always been speculated as Worgen. You have been misreading, methinks.
Suzaku Aug 11th 2009 7:45AM
The speculation has always been for worgen, especially since the masks look nothing like those badger-faced wolvar.
Why would wolvar join the Alliance, anyway? Worgen at least make sense -- former allies of the night elves and/or occupy the former Alliance city of Gilneas, there are even some worgen in human form that are friendly with Alliance players (and quest givers in Northrend).
MazokuRanma Aug 12th 2009 5:25AM
What friendly worgen are you talking about? The only ones I remember were in Grizzly Hills pretending not to be worgen. After you find out, you spend half the rest of the quests there on a worgen killing spree.
jrb Aug 11th 2009 7:38AM
surely the goblins are there to assist with the faction trasfer service.. all those gnomes that want to transfer have to become a small, annoying, high-pitched, easily-trodden-under-foot equivelant race, right?
Greg Aug 11th 2009 7:40AM
Just a couple posts ago this was 'behind the break' 'spoiler' news. You felt you had an obligation to readers not to share this information without some kind of warning.
What changed?
Aaron Aug 11th 2009 7:51AM
I'm going to have to agree with the others. I'm pretty disappointed that this doesn't stay a spoiler and under wraps until after Blizzcon. I was pretty upset Joystiq put it on their front page, too.
phoenixblight Aug 11th 2009 7:58AM
Its for a MMO its just like releasing info for a new feature for Myspace, twitter, Facebook not like it is ruin the game for you. "Oh know I didn't want to know there was going to be Worgen and Goblins now I am gonna go in my room and cry"
Its not like this is a leak about the ending of the next batman movie.... WoW doesn't even constitue as a real videogame. Its just grinding, leveling, working on professions, and rat race for gear... Whatever was left as lore was left at Warcraft 3 and earlier...
GrooveNeedle Aug 11th 2009 8:08AM
Worgen and Goblin are horrible choices for new races. I don't believe this at all.
Redielin Aug 11th 2009 8:17AM
I really don't understand where people are getting this Kool-aid they're drinking about Goblins, Worgen, the Emerald Dream and such. The only 'evidence' I've seen has been the datamined Halloween masks (which people are assuming are Goblins and Worgen), and the copyright Blizzard obtained for the Cataclysm name. That, and the WoW echo chamber, seems to have convinced everyone and their brother that this is completely, 100% true. Worgen as a race are just out of left field, while Goblins make no sense as a race (they're neutral in the game, they're neutral in Warcraft III, these guys are pretty, well, Neutral, you'd have to do some fancy finagling for the Alliance just to make Stranglethorn playable again if you made Booty Bay a Horde town).
I'll wait and see until Blizzcon. The evidence, at this point is pretty flimsy.
