WoW Moviewatch: Warriors Dance
After the good Baron Soosdon worked with Olibith on Never Stay Tuned 4, he continued to chase an interesting idea. Warriors Dance is the result of that idea. According to the Baron's description of Warriors Dance, the dance club Shortchange was created after the liberation of the gnomish people from the traitorous Alliance. However, things get a little different by the end of opening night.
Baron Soosdon has created another entertaining, fun location, though this one is wildly different from the paradise he put together for Happy Up Here. I think if the Shortchange were an actual, functioning dance space is Azeroth, you could probably find dozens of Alliance jostling to get in.
I continue to be amazed at how well Soosdon pieces his musical choice together with the video he puts on screen. The rhythm, words, and general vibe of the music matches the thriving, vibrant graphics. Ultimately, this video was awesome, and is going to be one I replay frequently.
In case the embedded video doesn't work out for you, you can check out a few different streams on the Baron's blog.

Why must 90% of all machinima posted on this site contain gnomes (or just as frequently, females belfs)? Yeah, I guess they're a bit of a recurring theme for Soosdon, but still, they're not really funny anymore.
/awaits imminent downranking for expressing my own opinion.

So wait is this inspired by the song the excellent Prodigy, Warriors Dance, from their equally awesome new album, Invaders Must Die?
(I can't watch the video right now as I'm on my mobile [or "cell" for our US readers])
Iriya Aug 11th 2009 12:54PM
The video uses that song, yes.
Iriya Aug 11th 2009 12:59PM
And after seeing the video of the original song, this one follows the same plot.
baronsoosdon Aug 11th 2009 1:15PM
This has nothing to do with the original video by Prodigy, I have not seen it.
sylectris Aug 11th 2009 6:05PM
yeah, it is the song Warrior's Dance from the cd Invaders Must Die by The Prodigy. i am not sure how i feel about this blending of two of my favorite entertainment mediums.

Hi again.
Great compositing work!
Here is my opinion. Overall, this is not good.
Here are reasons why I feel this is not good.
Too long. We get it, gnomes are dancing in a tavern, I don't need to see 1:30 of this.
Gnomes dance and a troll slaughters them to cook them to be on the cover of a magazine? Pretty juvenile and pointless.
The idea of a small cute thing being destroyed by a larger destructive thing has been done. There is nothing original/new being brought to the table.
Camera work is confusing.
Once again, the compositing work is well done, you should team up with someone who can write a compelling story and someone who can work a camera to tell a story.
Nascair Aug 11th 2009 1:53PM
im assuming u have never read the text of the cooking dailies? and you dont recognise the trolls?
Matt Aug 11th 2009 2:00PM
Hey Nascair,
No I didn't realize this had anything to do with the cooking dailies.
thanks for the info.
