Stormrage novel cover art revealed
This isn't the biggest news in the world, but for those of you that really dig World of Warcraft's extended universe, it might be pretty exciting. Medievaldragon over at BlizzPlanet has an incredibly hi-res picture of the artwork that will grace the cover of the upcoming novel Stormrage, courtesy of Pocket Books.I can't help but notice Malfurion's rather feral appearance there. Despite how much Blizzard loves the whole "falling from grace" thing for their characters, I somewhat doubt they will take that road with Malfurion, even with everything going on in the Emerald Dream.* Is he stalking some prey? Is he running from whatever gave him those scars? Is he pissed that Tyrande went Shadow and made him respec Resto, hence the foliage? Who knows, but I'm curious to find out, even if my least favorite Warcraft novelist is tackling this one. Maybe we'll get an excerpt to read in our swag bags at BlizzCon? We can hope, right?
*If they do, I assume it will be temporary. Chris Metzen seems awfully attached to Malfurion when he talks about him, so I don't expect they'll kill the poor guy off.

I can't wait to see what epix he drops as we kill him over and over. Hopefully, he'll drag Tyrande with him and we can loot her for epix, too. :D

That pic has a virus attached to it (trojan horse)
Alex Ziebart Aug 12th 2009 8:12PM
You should probably update flash or something.
Laynne Aug 12th 2009 8:55PM
I got that too, and I just updated Flash last week.

Every druid has to deal with one of the facts of nature:
It is violent, brutal, and very bloody. Druids can turn into animals that tear, bleed, and shred their victims. Even Balance druids burn their enemies with Starfire, constrict them with puncturing, thorn-covered roots, and surround them with a plague of vicious, carnivorous insects.
Druids are just as violent and vicious as anyone else when they need to. It's part of nature, and therefore, part of Stormrage as well.

Nice. certaintly more impressive and original looking than the Arthas cover. Arthas was still a great read though. I know of Knaak's reputation with the loreheads (I count myself as one), so Im crossing my fingers.
I dislike that he's not a Warcraft player, though. Thats where I think Christie Golden shines; she's more in tune with the lore and experiences it first hand and thus can channel it better.
Knaak im sure just looks at WoW Wiki.
Still going to read this though.

Original? I call borderline on that. It's the Hi-Def version of the Shadowmeld icon....

Yeah, her story about a man's love afair with his horse really tugged at my heart strings too.
IN BEFORE RHONIN* SAVES THE EMERALD DREAM
*Chances are Rhonin will just make an appearance in this. Some other fanfic version of Knaak will end up saving the day and making what is supposed to be one of the MOST powerful characters in Warcraft seem like a 12 year old girl at a concert.

[Rhonin] ex machina.

I might buy it just to add to my collection, but I couldn't bring myself to finish Night of the Dragon. I just can't stand the jumping between characters. That and I don't like the story of the dwarves, Iridi pisses me off, and Krasus is being almost as emo as Cloud Strife. But that's just me.
Wil Aug 12th 2009 8:28PM
You can't stand PoV switching? And you read books?
Kylenne Aug 12th 2009 8:59PM
@Wil: The POV switching wouldn't be so bad if the POVs were actually those of interesting, well-rounded characters. And if the prose didn't read like the tortuous fanfiction of thirteen year olds.

Thats not Malfurion, its Illidan. Illidan has Gold eyes, Furion has silver eyes. I am not gonna quote from the War of the Ancients trilogy, but the archive cover of that book surely is evidence enough. :D Knowledge is power.
Alex Ziebart Aug 12th 2009 8:25PM
Illidan doesn't have green hair. Malfurion does.
Wil Aug 12th 2009 8:27PM
That's what I thought! A novel about Illidan seems much more interesting than a novel about Mal.
Oznak Aug 12th 2009 8:28PM
True, it is Illidan with the "amber" eyes. However, I will quote War of the Ancients
Page 45 of Well of Eternity paperback
"His [Malfurion's] shoulder-length, dark green hair" That looks green to me.
And later ... "Illidan would have been identical to Malfurion if not for his midnight blue hair and amber eyes."
So .. Malidan?
Outlander Aug 12th 2009 8:31PM
I don't know what to say. They are twins, so maybe Illidan started out with Green hair...but there weren't barbers untill WOTLK. Back to square one.
