The Queue: Hump Day

It's Wednesday, hump day. And that means it's time for some Black Eye Peas. NSFW, and all those young whipper-snappers love it. For you older folks, here's something you might enjoy. Ladies and gentleman, Mr. Conway Twitty.
Andrew R asked...
"Why do people always talk about how the alliance is full of little kids while the horde is where the "mature" players are and vice-versa? To add to that why do those same people talk about how bad the opposite faction is and they will never play that faction?"
Some of those people are younger children that don't know how to behave yet, and others are adults that never learned. People like to think they know the demographics of the factions, characters, etc... they like to quote sites like WarcraftRealms.com, but really they don't and no one really does except for Blizzard.
While some sites like WoW.com can draw general conclusions based on their own traffic patterns and visitor information, it's still just a representative same of the individual site and its participants, not of the entire population.
If they're just being unscientific about it and just complaining, which they probably are, then they have most likely heard it from a friend of a friend who "knows it to be true." Their opinions are gross over generalizations based off of one or two negative experiences, even though they probably have had dozens of positive experiences that they fail to recognize.
That's a fancy way of saying: they have no idea what they're talking about.
Choke asked...
"On the in-game character sheet, the Expertise stat is displayed in a fraction format, like 18/18 or 26/26. Why?"
Each number represents the expertise for the main hand/off hand, in that format.
Insomniax asked...
"Any word from Blizzard or speculation on how they'll handle established players wanting to switch their characters to the new playable races next expansion pack? Seems silly to make people with 10 entrenched toons reroll just to enjoy them."
I hope they increase the per-server character limit. I don't want to transfer any of my alts around to different accounts. But they haven't even announced the new races yet, at least officially, so we don't know. This will be a top question of mine at BlizzCon however, so hopefully I'll get the opportunity to ask someone who knows about it.
Scunosi asked...
"I seem to recall some of the old patch notes for 3.2 mentioning a portal that would be added, along with the new capital portals to the Dark Portal, that would port players from the Dark Portal directly to Shattrath. Wow that's a lot of portals. As far as I can tell, this wasn't implemented. Any idea why?"
The only portals that I've ever heard about were from the capital cities to outside the Dark Portal in Azeroth. Those portals are all located near the mage teleport location (ie: near the priest trainers in IF). Edit: Everyone does have automatic flight paths from Hellfire for Shat now, however. So the same thing is achieved.
Kaijin asked...
"So The Queue, do you have any information about the "instance cannot be launched" issue?"
No. The issues is being worked on, which is what Blizzard has said multiple times. Blizzard is well aware of it, and trust me when I say the people who work there have to deal with it just as much as all of you do – if not more since it's their day job as well.
And on behalf of the WoW.com staff, please stop sending in tips about this. We're not posting on it because we have nothing new to report on.

They did not implement a new portal, however there now is the direct flight path to shattrath given to you as soon as you cross the dark portal, aswell as the faction town.

Incorrect. The new portal is up. As is the direct flight to Shatt from the Dark Portal.

In SW, on the landing just below the Mage portal destination, there's a portal to the Dark Portal.

If you go to the mage tower in Stormwind, there is a portal to take you to the Blasted Lands right outside the Dark Portal
Itanius Aug 12th 2009 11:50AM
Ask a guard in any Capital City where the Portal Trainer is. There will be a portal there that goes directly to the Blasted Lands facing the Dark Portal.

That is a horrible joke on Family Guy. Please don't remind me of it. >.

The dramatic oversimplifcation of it is that it scales your weapon DPS: 14 AP = 1 DPS

and it can be a lot of things/affect many different stats/come from many different stats depending on your class.

Hmmm, that WoWWiki link is the first link I got when Googling "attack power". Does "I can't find the answer anywhere" translate into "trying is like, hard an' stuff"?
GIYF.
